For the next five years, you’ll be stuck here, the Wheatley School. Don’t worry though, because it’s not too bad. In fact, it’s good! Every day at Wheatley, you’ll be met with new faces, new challenges, and new freedoms. If you don’t know somebody, teacher or student, introduce yourself! And, with each new freedom, just make sure you continue to stay responsible and thankful! This school will seem very new to you at first, but you’ll definitely get accustomed to our many different traditions and our unique culture quite quickly! You’re a young adult now. That means you have the power to use vending machines, try out for junior- varsity and varsity sports, and join awesome new clubs. There still are restrictions though. After all, you can’t just come to school through any doors you please. A small disclaimer: the red doors close for good every day right before first period. Additionally, you’ll probably be eating a lot of whole wheat food, whether you like it or not. Thanks Obama! Michelle, that is. Wheatley is one of the top schools in the nation. Not only does the school provide a great education, but it is a unique environment where students create the strongest of bonds with their teachers and classmates. This is what will make Wheatley feel like home for the next five years. There will be challenges, though. But have no fear, because if you face one, there are an infinite numbr of people and resources you can reach out to for help. And in the end, just remember to work hard, set goals, and be yourself. That’s the Wheatley Way! Writing this with experience (we’ll be the oldest in the school next year), we have a few things to mention. In order to help you throughout your next few years, we have prepared a list of Do’s and Dont’s for you. Enjoy. Do *Come to school on time *Your homework *Join new clubs *Watch WSTV *Try the cafeteria’s honey mustard *Give your all in gym *Keep some money on you (you never know when a bake sale is coming) *Write for the school newspaper (it is a mandatory requirement before you graduate) *Explore the pool *Climb to the roof *Wear clothing backwards on the first day of school *Come to Varisty Revue *Come to the School Play *Come to sports events *OK.
