2015 IN REVIEW
Dear Union member,
Purportedly, we are witnessing one of the longest periods of sustained economic growth in history. Yet working people have seen little benefit. Wealthy CEOs are reaping the rewards and workers’ wages have stagnated. Too many families are barely making ends meet.
Contingent work continues to grow and jobs that once offered a middle class lifestyle have been made part-time, temporary, and low-wage. Throughout the economy, workers are misclassified as independent contractors and denied basic benefits including the right to organize.
We are fighting to rebuild the middle class and reduce inequality. We need elected officials who are committed to this fight.
Public funds should be attached to good job creation, corporations should pay their fair share, and employers should be held accountable when they violate workers’ rights.
We salute our 100%ers and we urge all legislators to stand on the side of working families and help us build a more fair economy.
In Solidarity,
Art PulaskiExecutive Secretary-Treasurer
