January brought us our yearly retreat and now, during March, we all need to decide where our place is in this great chamber. Each of us will take our place to help make our year successful. Wings ETC hosted our monthly membership meeting, on Febru- ary 21 and fed all of us, with some great food and dessert. Don Brzozowski, also provided some discounts to the membership and also a great way to advertise. We will discuss this at our next board meeting. We are always looking for ways to promote our members and hope that our membership will increase in the coming months. If you havent signed up to participate on a committee, please contact David at the Chamber office number or myself, at 859-248-2505. Our goal for 2019 is to have the best possible events, for our community, county and surrounding areas. Since the Spoonbread is our signature event of the year, in September, we have to plan now and work now and get organized now, so that everything will go smoothly and the results will be a successful one for everyone. Again, I want to ask all members to participate, in our membership meetings. I want to ask our board members to be at our board meetings. If David has not already sent you our meeting list of dates, that will be sent out to you soon. Please plan ahead, so we can all be in the know and make our decisions together. What do you want from the Chamber of Commerce and what are you willing to do to make it happen? We have a great group of members and board members, so let s work hard together. We have one of the best, active and concerned Chambers, in the Commonwealth. We have a pres- ence, in Frankfort, whenever opportunities arise. We have representatives and a senator that will listen. The Chamber is very pro-active. We also have a mayor that is very concerned about the state of our city. This is all a win-win situation for each of us. If we try to do some things different, we should get different results, than in the past. Everyone, stay tuned for a great, progressive and productive year, which will happen, if that is part of our vision for our chamber and each of our members. I would also ask that on your anniversary date, for membership renewal, that you please renew your membership, on time. This is what keeps our bills paid and our lights on. Thanks to all of you for being punctual and on time, in advance. It is truly an honor to have each one of you, who feel that supporting the Berea Chamber of Commerce is important. Spring is around the corner and here is to a greater year than the last one. Hoping for a new pathway to many more successful years, for each current business and future business that may join us this year. Sincerely,

Looking forward to the month of March and looking back on February, I must say that the Berea Chamber of Commerce has a lot of work ahead of all of us. January brought us our yearly retreat and now, during March, we all need to decide where our place is in this great chamber. Each of us will take our place to help make our year successful.

Wings ETC hosted our monthly membership meeting, on Febru-ary 21 and fed all of us, with some great food and dessert. Time to Roll Up Your Sleeves & Get Involved

Over the last few weeks, our Chamber Board members have taken owner-ship of one or more committees as Chair or Co-Chairs, which provides a di-rect line of communication back to our monthly Board meeting allowing each committee an opportunity to express their unique needs and share their activ-ities through a monthly report to the other Board members. As a Chamber member striving to carve out their niche in our committee structure, you will notice that some committees have standing monthly meet-ings (Economic Development, Spoonbread Festival, etc.) while other commit-tees are more project oriented and may only meet two or three times leading up to their event (Awards Banquet, Golf Scramble, Geocaching Weekend, Christmas Parade, etc.). To join a committee, you will need to call the Chamber office (986-9760) or email us at [email protected] and request to be added to our email distribution list for your selected committee(s) and you will begin receiv-ing all future communications of committee meetings and activities for 2019. Many of our planning committees will be conducting organizational meetings in the coming weeks, so make plans now to get involved. If you need more information concerning the important work of our committees, please review page 5 of this newsletter to see the charges for each committee. As we have openings on our Board of Directors, we always look to our com-mittee structure for up and coming leaders of the Chamber.

Sincerely,

David

My Chamber

Story

Meet Paul Reynolds Paul has been a self-employed business owner of Reynold’s Insurance Agency Inc. since 1974, as well as owner and operator of a 140-acre beef farm raising Fleckvieh Simmental Cattle. He was also a Commis-sioner of Southern Madison Water District from 1992-2008. Paul became a member of the Berea Chamber of Commerce back in 1979, and is still an active member to this day.

Paul was elected to the Chamber Board, and later, the position of Vice President. One of his first involvements was the motel/hotel tax issue. The Chamber had voted to approve the issue, and as a local insurance agent, who had many of those insured, he ended up losing their busi-ness.

Paul was very interested in the growth of Berea and says that is the main reason for his joining the Berea Chamber of Commerce. Being active in the Chamber has provided Paul many opportunities to meet dedicated individuals. Paul has met and worked with many elected officials at the state level, as well as Senators and Congressmen, on issues pertaining to our community. Paul has also been able to gain first-hand knowledge and experience helping with community events, thus making him a better business person and community leader. Over the last 38 years, Paul has been a board member, President for two terms, Vice President for one term, Treasurer for three terms, Chairman of the Economic Development Committee for several years, the Cham-ber’s representative to the Tourism Commission one term, served on the Public Affairs Committee, served on the Industrial Relations Committee, as well as several other committees throughout his years of service with the Chamber. Paul has been awarded Man of the Year by the Chamber in 2006, and was presented the Hall of Fame Award by the Chamber in 2007.

Paul says the opportunities the Chamber provides to meet and work with not only Berea Chamber members, but Richmond members as well, to better and improve our town is one of the things he enjoys most about being part of the Chamber.

What Paul enjoys most about living in Berea is how people of all different backgrounds come together to share their ideas and talents, which in turn, is a greatly beneficial to our small town. Paul also enjoys the fact that with his involvement with the Chamber, we are able to provide and continue many successful events, especially for a town of our size.

Along with being a business owner and active member of the Chamber, he is a family man. Paul has two daughters, Katherine Reynolds, a Com-mercial Pilot, and Carolyn Reynolds, an Insurance Agent. Paul also has two grandchildren, Haley Bogie, 11-years-old, and Dylan Anselmo, 8-years-old.

Paul added, “I am an individual who has been blessed with many suc-cesses, both personally and professionally, from many different individu-als and walks of life. I thank GOD daily for all the blessings he has be-stowed on me and my family.”
