are more likely to have seen a doctor in the past year, and to have a regular source of care
are more likely to have received preventive care and to keep up with the schedule of well-child visits

Demographics
• Over 50% of residents have less than a high school diploma.
41% are under the age of 18 31% are elderly
• Approximately 2.2 million people live in public housing.
• The majority of residents are from single, female-led households.
• Residents of public housing are predominantly people of white race (50%) and non-Hispanic ethnicity (76%).
• The average annual income is $13,722; most people live in extremely low economic conditions (30% below median income).
• Health access may
be limited for some because 33% of residents are uninsured.
• Due to public housing being in low-income urban areas, health care facilities are limited. Residents are also distanced from social services and healthy food supplies.
• Public housing is often in urban areas, situated on the eastern coast of the U.S. and dispersed throughout large states such as California and Texas.
