LachLandcare

A milestone for Landcare in the Lachlan catchment has been achieved by the formation of LachLandcare, the peak grass roots representative body for Landcare in the Lachlan.

What is LachLandcare?LachLandcare Inc. is an advocate, communicator and mentor for Landcare ideas and action in the Lachlan catchment. It aims to create resilient landscapes and communities through collaborative partnerships that optimise use of resources.Nine district Landcare network organisations make up LachLandcare Inc. Each network has a Landcare Support Officer (LSO) employed on a part time basis with funds provided by the Lachlan CMA.

LachLandcare delegatesLachLandcare consists of delegates from each of the nine Landcare districts in the Lachlan CMA.LachLandcare is also represented on - the State Landcare body for NSW.

Landcare FacilitatorsThe LSOs and LachLandcare are supported by Regional Landcare Facilitators (RLFs). The Lachlan CMA is represented on the RLF steering Committee along with other NRM groups. The role of the RLFs is to;• promote the uptake of sustainable farm practices

including soil, vegetation management and farming systems

• establish, support, and develop Landcare and production groups and to help them; and

• promote opportunities for groups and networks to access public and private funding to improve on farm NRM outcomes

Landcare levels of operationLocal - Small individual groups operating independently, and generally on projects that have meaning for them.

District - Membership consists of several local groups and individual members.

Regional - Comprised of District Landcare networks. The Committee usually consists of Chairs from the member networks or a nominated representative. LachLandcare is the Lachlan catchments regional body.

State - Landcare NSW membership is comprised of regional group representation as well as other key NRM stakeholders

National - Sponsorship and corporate engagement is undertaken by Landcare Australia. Ltd (LAL). The representative arm is the Australian Landcare Council, the peak body for Landcare.
