A little bit of History first

New Zealand was discovered and settled by the Polynesians who developed a culture called Maori, in the 1840 New Zealand became part of the British Crown. Throughout the rest of the century there was extensive European and some Asian settlement.

Nowadays according to the last Census 2006 the population is consisted of 67.6% of European 14.6% Maori descendent 9.2% Asian 6.9% Pacific Islanders 0.9% Other groups

Mercer Consulting ranks Auckland 5th and Wellington 12th in their worldwide ‘top cities with best quality of life’ survey.New Zealand qualification is recognised and understood in over 50 countries.  New Zealand’s inclusion will make it easier for students to continue study or work around the world after completing their New Zealand qualification.Students can be less concerned about which New Zealand education provider to choose and concentrate more on which course and part of New Zealand to be in.

Competitive tuition fees and overall study costsNew Zealand is a very competitive option for students when considering tuition fees and other study costs such as visas, health cover and additional fees.The Deloitte 2007 Comparison of Costs report, commissioned by Education New Zealand, compares tuition, study and living costs between New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the USA.Overall, there is less variation in fees among New Zealand providers. New Zealand has generally the least expensive Bachelor degrees and secondary schooling is very competitive. In particularly, the cost of a New Zealand PhD is much less than other countries.The following table shows examples of the cost of studying for New Zealand qualifications, compared to similar courses internationally.

WORK IN NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand has a list of professions which are in demand and its required assistance from overseas workers, you can see the full list in the Immigration website www.immigration.govt.nz but as an example here are a few.Architects,Engineers, Doctors, Nurses, Electricians,Teachers, Fitter and Turner, Chef, Skydive instructor, Jockey, Cafe and Restaurant Manager just to name a few.As some of this professions require registration in New Zealand the process from the time you decided to go until your arrival date might take some time.It is also required proved English fluency.

VISAS Visitor- Brazilian citizens do not need to apply for a visitor visa prior to arrive in New Zealand as that is given by the officer upon arrival up to 90 days, but is extremely prohibited to work with this type of visaWork – the work visa is divided into different categories, and allows the person to work legally in the country Long term business – visa for those who are interested in opening a business in New ZealandInvestors – for those who want to make investments in the countryWorking Holiday Visa – work and travel visa allows to work for 12 months in New Zealand. Brazilians citizens between 18 and 30 years old can apply for this visa every year there are 300 places.
