WorkPace installation screen shots. This installation procedure is for a centrally managed installation with user roaming capabilities. User roaming means the user may change PC and their profile will follow them. This also enables centralised configuration management and reporting. The following steps sets up a central location where the installation of WorkPace will be run from. When the wpsetup.exe is run the following prompts occur.

This will install the files on the server that are used to install WorkPace on the end users PC or create the capture image.

This is the server location where the installation, configuration, and end user profile files will reside. Note the profile file is also stored on the users local PC.



This is where the global configuration files are stored.

This is the location on the local PC where WorkPace will be installed.



Up to you depending on your privileges. If the users can edit their startup but not the registry and you don’t want them to disable automatic startup select Registry startup. It is recommended WorkPace be configured to auto start. Note if you select create shortcuts for all users a short cut will be added to the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup or the registry for all users ( if you chose the registry as the start-up option). All users who log onto the PC will run WorkPace. If only selected users are to run WorkPace then you will need to add a shortcut to the C:\Program Files\WorkPace 3.0 workpace.exe to the users start-up or users registry.



The auto Installation creates a folder wpauto on the server in the newly created sysadmin folder. To install WorkPace on the end-users PC you can run the wpauto.exe from this location. Select do not install on this machine if you don’t want WorkPace installed on the PC you are using to load the software on the server.

You could run a script, place this command in a batch file or send the user a link as above. Alternately run this command (wpauto.exe) to start the process used to create and capture the installation package. Note you need administrator rights to install WorkPace. IMPORTANT NOTE: FOR A TRUE UNATTENDED INSTALL Under some Installation Manager Applications, i.e. SMS, Citrix Installation Manager or other unattended installations, WorkPace should not be started automatically immediately after installation, as the network shares may not be available. In these cases, the WPAUTO.INI in the Auto Installation Folder will need to be edited as follows: WPFINALACTIONS=AZ change to WPFINALACTIONS=Z This will delay the automatic start-up of WorkPace until the user first logs on.



END USER INSTALLATION The next section is what the user will see when the WorkPace first runs. The user should run the multimedia tutorial before they start to use WorkPace.

The user will be prompted to run a setup wizard. This will ask a series of questions that will set up WorkPace. After this process the settings determined by the wizard will be displayed. You can also configure WorkPace to run a preset configuration if required. The user may enter a Password to protect their statistics.
