Desenvolvimento de estratégias de aprendizagem com vistas à conscientização dos processos que envolvem a produção e recepção de textos em diversos gêneros e registros.

Objetivo geral: Propiciar aos oficineiros, que trabalham com a língua inglesa, a oportunidade de refletir e integrar estratégias de aprendizagem ao trabalho individual, com o grupo e junto aos seus alunos.

POR QUE AS ESTRATÉGIAS DE APRENDIZAGEM SÃO IMPORTANTES?

Estratégias de aprendizagem são as atitudes tomadas pelos estudantes para melhorar seu conhecimento/aquisição. Estas são especialmente importantes por serem ferramentas para o desenvolvimento e envolvimento do aluno durante o seu processo de aquisição.

O uso apropriado das estratégias de aprendizagem resultam em melhor proficiência e maior auto-confiança durante o processo de aquisição.

ESTRATÉGIAS DIRETAS

São aquelas que estão diretamente envolvidas na aprendizagem

Memória: ajuda os estudantes a estocar e recuperar novas informações;

Cognitivas: permite que os aprendizes entendam e produzam a nova língua com diferentes significados;

Compensação: permite que os aprendizes usem a língua apesar das lacunas de conhecimento.

ESTRATÉGIAS INDIRETAS

São aquelas que dão suporte e apoio no aprendizado da língua, sem envolver diretamente a língua alvo.

Metacognitivas: permite que o aprendiz controle sua própria cognição, isto é, coordenando o processo de aprendizagem;

Afetivas: ajudam a regular as emoções, motivações e atitudes do aprendiz;

Sociais: ajuda os estudantes a aprender através da interação entre os colegas.

CARTOON

You are an English-speaking high school student learning Italian. You have a good sense of humor and enjoy jokes and cartoons. You decided to buy an Italian cartoon book. It is about 100 pages long, full of cartoons. You want to read the book, understand the cartoons, and explain some of the cartoons to your friends who do not know Italian at all. Which language learning strategies do you need to use?

THE PLAY’S THE THING

You are an American high school student in your third year of French. Your task is to work with a small group to write and participate in a 30-minute play, all in French, about teenagers in France. You don’t know much about teenagers in France, and you are terrified about speaking French in the play, but you are relieved in that your friends are involved in it with you. Which language strategies do you need to use?

ESPIONAGE

You are a spy. Your job deals with overhearing and understanding target language conversations in person, over the phone, and on tape. Your task is to track a covert group which has been conducting international sabotage and to uncover secrets about this group’s activity. You have studied the language (called Unca) spoken by the group, but are not an expert; you need to work on your Unca listening skills-fast! Which language learning strategies do you need to use?

ON TOUR

You are an Australian tourist in Greece. You have never been here before, and your study of Greek has been limited to skimming the Berlitz phrasebook. You managed to find your hotel with the help of a taxi driver. You went out for a walk on your own and got lost. Nobody around you seems to speak English. Your task is to find out where you are and get back to your hotel before it gets dark. You have 2 hours to do this. You are getting a little worried! Which language learning strategies do you need to use?
