MAKING A SUCCESSFUL TRANSITION

STEP 1-ACCEPT YOUR ACCEPTANCE• The intent to Enroll form confirms that you will be attending the university when you transfer

• If you haven’t already done so, be sure to complete your intent to enroll form that was sent with your acceptance letter!

Note:

All universities have a deadline to complete an intent to enroll. Inform the admissions team if you need more time as you await other decisions.

Enrollment Deposits

• The enrollment deposit secures your seat as a student and allows you to register for class

• The cost can range depending on the institution but be prepared to pay between $50-$300.

• You can pay by check, money order, credit card or even wire transfer

Begin accessing your new student portal as soon as possible to:

• Gain information of your enrollment status

• Receive communication regarding your next steps can be found in your portal

• Register for classes (the sooner the better)

THE FINANCIAL AID AWARD LETTER• Along with your acceptance letter, you will

find a letter outlining your financial aid from your college. It typically includes the following:

• Grants

• Scholarships

• Work Study (if eligible)

• Federal Student Loans

• Cost of attendance

• Estimated Family Contribution

• The remaining funds (if any) to be paid (called a funding gap)

ITEMS TO SCHEDULE

Be prepared to schedule the following items over the summer months. The earlier they are scheduled the easier your transition will be:

• Placement Tests-some universities require placement tests for transfer students depending on major and courses taken at CCC

• Orientation-Schedule your orientation as soon as possible. Your ability to register for classes may depend on it!

• University Advising appointment-Get to know your Advisor right away as they will support you through completion of your bachelors degree

ADDITIONAL COSTS

• Enrollment Fees

• Health insurance (if not covered by your parents)

• Computer/laptop

• Housing (if not living at home)

• Housing deposit (if living on campus)

• Books (always have purchased at least a week before class starts)

YOUR FINAL CHECKLIST

❑Submit your intent to enroll

❑Complete your housing application and pay the deposit (if applicable)

❑Sit for placement exams (if required)

❑Schedule your college orientation

❑Meet with your College Advisor

❑Enroll in classes

❑Apply for health insurance (if not covered by parents)
