Career Services is an important part of student life at Swarthmore. In addition to the programming listed on the reverse side, we offer

individualized attention to students who are seeking career direction, considering majors, exploring internships, job searching or applying for

graduate school.

How Can a Career Counselor Help?

In-depth assistance is provided for students who want to clarify career direction or determine occupations of interest by appointment with a Career Counselor. In our meetings with students, we like to get to know you -- what interests you, motivates you, inspires you -- what your values are, your commitments and ways you want to make a difference. Our conversations can help you clarify your interests, skills and values, and sometimes we use inventories as well -- like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Campbell Interests and Skills Survey. Our goal is to help you connect what you know about yourself to potential careers and to help you make an informed choice about where you want to start your life after Swarthmore.

Career Counselors also offer assistance with career planning and developing your job and internship search strategies. Career Counselors and Career Peer Advisors will review the content and presentation of resumes and cover letters. We offer a wide range of assistance in preparing for interviews, including mock interviews. If graduate school is in your future, we will also assist with your application process.

Drop by our office in 135 Parrish weekday afternoons between 1:00 and 4:30 PM with quick questions or to have a resume reviewed by our trained

Career Peer Advisors. No appointment necessary.

More in-depth appointments with a Career Counselor are available by appointment and generally can be scheduled the very next day so you won't

miss an application deadline or fail to be prepared for an interview.

To set-up an appointment with a Career Counselor, please stop by Parrish 135 or call us at 610-328-8352.
