Catapults

• Part of a world-leading network of technology and innovation centres

• Bridge the gap between businesses, academia, research and government

• A long-term investment to transform the UK’s ability to create new products and services

• Open up global opportunities for the UK and generate sustained economic growth for the future

• Established and overseen by Innovate UK

Catapult’s Role www.catapult.org.uk

Growing companies is at the heart of all our activities

We work with companies in a variety of ways:

• Building demonstrators & showcasing capability

• Collaborating on projects

• Providing access to facilities, equipment and expertise

• Offering business support services

• Creating networking opportunities & enabling connections

Increasing

Impact

Harwell Space Cluster Development

• 68 space organisations on campus including 24 inward

investors, eg Deimos (grown from 6 to 20 employees)

• Catapult is a key attraction and provides a loci for

networking & innovation

• Catapult plays an active role in growing the space cluster

Satuccino

• Monthly networking event for our community (~60-70 attendees each month)

• Series of 1 minute slots are given to:

companies to give latest updates & highlight opportunities to collaborate

government bodies & academia to promote initiatives, activities & events

“…an invaluable forum to meet a wide variety of space

professionals and stakeholders in one place. We have

made a number of key contacts at SMEs such as Rezatec,

Earth-I, through to larger organisations like Airbus,

Lockheed Martin and ESA.

Our consortium in the VESTA programme (a demo

service utilising small satellites to provide bi-directional

maritime communications) is made up of companies who

we met through Satuccino events.”

“…a great platform for sharing company updates with a larger

audience. It has helped OSS gain market insight in terms of

which new players have joined the industry and have met

potential new partners through the event:

• Discussing a flight opportunity with SEN

• Exploring how we can work with Deimos UK for mutual

benefits.’’
