    Inter Focus Courses - “The Labs”

    16.09.2017Dr. Malte Schwerhoff, Lecturer

    § You need ≥ 12 ECTS from labs → two labs§ First two labs offered in autumn semester, third in spring§ Repetition requires re-enrolling → one year later

  • ||Department of Computer Science

    § Labs are difficult and mean a lot of work during the semester

    § Failed labs are the main reason for drop-outs

    § Strong recommendation: Pass at least one lab within one year

    § Advice: Take one lab each semester (and plan in enough time)

    § Rule: You need to have passed two labs before getting a working permit (for industry, not for ETH)

    • The completion of an internship extends the maximal study duration by at most one additional semester

    • Language course credits (upper bound?) can contribute to Elective Courses, but not to GESS Courses

    • ETH recommends a semester abroad to students with an ETH BSc only• Reason: ETH degree should mean you spent most time at ETH• Self-organised semester abroad possible, but no support from ETH (cooperations,

    ECTS recognition, …)
