About the Workshop
This UMCCed Workshop with practical training session, held in collaboration with GPAM and ZESB, aims to provide participants the “Learn & Do” in limiting domestic solid waste for �nal disposal. A solid waste stream dominated by organic waste and inorganic materials will create environmental hazards and a source separation must be carried out: a) inorganic for recycling; b) organics for composting; and c) other hazardous waste for safe treatment and disposal and that all these waste are to be diverted from land�lls.
Benefits of the Workshop
The goals of this Workshop are: a) to provide awareness that domestic solid waste problems are contributed by the consumers’ attitudes and actions; b) to disseminate the four-step approach to domestic solid waste management: recover, reduce, reuse and recycle; c) to show-case ways where consumers can play major roles in reducing domestic solid waste problems; and d) to provide a platform for networking among multi-stakeholders for latest information exchange and technology updates on domestic solid waste management.
