With the justice delivery system, thereappears to be growing demands for expertsin the field of behavioural science. Specificrequirements include psychologistsproviding their expertise to investigatingagencies for solving peculiar and unusualcases as well as playing the role of an expertwitness in court proceeding in both civil aswell as criminal aspects of law.

As the crime rate grows inour country and the criminals are morecomplicated, the investigative tools of theexperts are required to be moresophisticated. The manner in which a crimeperformed expresses the psychologicalpattern, make-up, and expression of theindividual performing it. Criminalinvestigation analysis, or criminal personalityprofiling, examines and identifies the delicatehabits, psychological traits, and personalityvariables associated with criminal activity.These variables and traits are use to developpersonality and behavioural descriptions ofan offender who often commits heinouscrimes, such as serial homicide, sex, crimesleading to criminal homicide, arson,bombings, ritualistic crimes that includetorture, child abduction, kidnapping, childmolestation, and bank robbery. Criminalprofiling has become a standard weapon forlaw enforcement today and has evolved intoa special science of law enforcement.
