Why Statistics for Analytics Professionals ? "Statistics are ubiquitous in life, and so should be statistical reasoning." - New York Times
Business Analytics professional most often encounter difficulty in terms of understanding fundamental concepts of Statistics such as scales of
measurements, normal distribution, hypothesis testing, p-value, significance level, standard error, degrees of freedom, multicollinearity,
analysis of vaiance, error term assumptions, so on and so forth.
Data Scientists of today are quite avowed by the power of machine learning algorithms to the extent that they believe that statistics principles are not an essential ingredient for data analysis. However Analytics stands on the giant shoulders of statistics, to say the least. Particularly in solving complex business problems, statistics come to the fore. Hence it is imperative to master the basic concepts of statistics to be a successful data science professional.
Objectives of the Workshop "By 2018 the United States will experience a shortage of 190,000 skilled data scientists, and 1.5 million managers and analysts capable of reaping actionable insights from the big data deluge."- McKinsey Global Institute's Big Data Report This workshop aims to
Provide understanding of core statistical concepts associated with business analytics and
To comprehend the business analytics process cycle from Objective to Model evaluation. This is done by providing hands on using data analysis software such as Excel and R.
