STUDENTS ARE THE FUTUREThe Fleet brings meaning to the wonder of science. We believe science is in everything and education is the foundational starting point for discovery and curiosity. All of the experiences we create are designed to bring out the inner scientist in your students and facilitate learning both in and beyond classrooms.

As an informal educational and inquiry-based institution, the Fleet Science Center offers a number of interactive learning experiences designed to inspire people of all ages to become problem solvers, inventors and innovators in their communities.

SCIENCE TO GOOur education outreach staff will deliver science programs directly to your school, library, community center or other educational venue. No need to get on a bus or gather supplies—we bring the science knowledge, enthusiasm and materials needed to delve into science topics at the venue of your choice. All Science To Go programs can also be booked as workshops at the Science Center! Programs are available for Pre-K through Grade 8.

SCIENCE STATION INVESTIGATION Science Station Investigation brings together hundreds of students in the same space, discovering science through a variety of standards-based, hands-on experiences. It’s a great alternative to a traditional assembly! These programs can take place in your cafeteria, gym or multipurpose room during the school day. Choose from topics such as physics, magic and space.

New!STEAM SHOPExplore and innovate through collaborative projects that embrace the philosophy of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics). A STEAM Shop promotes innovation through critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, risk-taking and perseverance. Most of all, students will use analytical problem-solving skills. All STEAM Shop workshops take place in the Fleet’s Tinkering Studio and are two hours long. For grades 4 and up.

Interactive exhibit galleries, featuring more than 100 exhibits, encourage experimentation through hands-on fun. Provide your students firsthand experience with core science concepts with a visit to the Fleet.

School Group Gallery Visit Pricing: $6 per student. One adult chaperone per 10 students for 2nd grade and up is required, and one adult

The Art of the Brick: September 30, 2016–January 29, 2017Named one of CNN's Top Ten "Global Must-See Exhibitions,” The Art of the Brick exhibition by artist Nathan Sawaya takes LEGO® bricks from child's toy to sophisticated art form—and beyond. The world's largest display of LEGO art features original pieces of inspiring artworks as well as re-imagined versions of some of the world's most famous art masterpieces, all made exclusively from LEGO bricks.

This is a special, limited-engagement exhibition that requires an additional fee for admission.

Sherlock Holmes and the Clocktower Mystery: February 11–June 4, 2017A terrible crime has been committed and Victorian London’s most celebrated detective, Sherlock Holmes, needs your help to find out “whodunit!” This interactive, entertaining and very clever mystery will test your powers of observation and deductive reasoning. You’ll investigate several rooms to collect clues and gather evidence. Put on your thinking cap and see if you can solve this baffling thriller!

AMAZING IMAX FILMSBecome immersed in the Heikoff Giant Dome Theater through IMAX film adventures that showcase the wonders of the planet—and beyond. It’s an exciting experience for your students (and you, too!) that makes an impact and reinforces educational content standards. Educator guides are available for most films; ask for your complimentary guide when you book your screening.

We have a wide range of films, covering topics ranging from oceans to animals and history to space. You can pick what you want to see and your date!

Cancellation PolicyA minimum of two weeks’ notice is required for rescheduling or canceling your reservation. Cancellations made with less than two weeks’ notice will result in a cancellation fee. You must send a written notification by either email ([email protected]) or by fax (619-685-5770) and must receive a written confirmation from the Client Services Department to ensure your cancellation is processed.

ChaperonesWe require one adult chaperone per 10 students for 2nd grade and up, and one adult chaperone per five students for Pre-K through 1st grade for exhibit gallery and IMAX visits. Required adults are free. Adults beyond the required number must pay admission.
