What is Six Sigma?Do you have problems in your processes for years that you try to solve over and over? Maybe you did not find the true root cause, or maybe the solution you put in place is not sustainable. Six Sigma was developed in the 1980’s at Motorola to sustainably solve problems systematically. People like Gary Cone, a founding partner of GPS (Global Productivity Solutions) structured a statistical toolbox to first make sure the list of possible causes (so called X’s) is large enough to contain the true root causes and then to reduce the list systematically, by employing tools and not opinions until few enough X’s are left. Then we can look at the interactions of them and find set points that collectively are most advantageous for those X’s.
How good do you need to be?
A question we constantly ask ourselves and you once we work together is how good do we need to be to beat the competition and how does perfection look like for you? Let’s take a quick look at two points in below graph:
How many people do you know who were involved in a fatal aircraft accident? Most of us don’t know anybody. This is how your operation can look too. How good do you need to be? That is a crucial question for you to run your business.The other point is the luggage handling. If you have flown a few times, you have likely experienced lost luggage or at least delays. In other words, you are struggling with the process. So ask yourself again: How good do you need to be?
