GO ZERO.What have we gained in this past 5 years? “HIV con)nues to be a major global public health issue, having claimed more than 34 million lives so far. In 2014 alone, 1.2 million people died from HIV-‐related causes globally and there were approximately 36.9 million people living with HIV. Unfortunately, by the end of 2014, there are s)ll 2.0 million new infections globally. It is es)mated that currently only 51% of people with HIV know their status. In 2014, 14.9 million people living with HIV were receiving an)retroviral therapy (ART) globally, which is only represent 40% of people living with HIV worldwide.”
The theme chosen for World AIDS Day 2011 un)l 2015 is “GeVng to Zero: Zero New HIV Infec)ons, Zero Discrimina)on, Zero AIDS-‐related Deaths” what have we gain these 5 years? What have we done and what we haven’t done? New discoveries and achievements have been made through these years. But our war against HIV/AIDS hasn’t ended. The campaign against disinforma)on, discrimina)on, and people’s ignorant are definitely are s)ll an essen)al part of our war against HIV/AIDS.
What can we, as medical students of Asia-‐Pacific, do to contribute? People of Tomorrow! it is )me to wake up, stand up, and speak up. This is the first academic compe))on of this term, we challenge you to explore the issue of HIV/AIDS in your country and bring it to the world. Translate your knowledge into weapons against ignorance and misconcep)ons, and contribute to achieve our [Zero] together.
GENERAL INFORMATIONThe AMSA Interna-onal World AIDS Day Compe--ons consists of two separate compe--ons, all of which are open strictly for AMSA members only:
1. Essay Compe--on 2. Public Poster Compe--on
All compe--on submissions must adhere to these guidelines and should be submiFed to academics@amsa-‐interna-onal.org beforeNovember 1st, 2015 -‐ 09.00 GMT. All submission must be sent through AMSA Chapter email, any submission sent from personal email will be omiFed. Late submissions will not be recognized. To ensure fairness, the name and chapter of par-cipants will be omiFed during judging process. By submiMng their work for World AIDS Day Compe--on, par-cipants give AMSA Interna-onal permission to archive and publish their work through its media channels.

SCIENCE ARTICLE COMPETITION Par)cipants are invited to write scien)fic essay, targeted for the scholar audience. As medical students from a different countries with a different cultures, we want to explore the problems and development of HIV/AIDS in each chapter and to let others know of each condi)on in each chapter.
Par)cipants can one of the topics provided for their ar)cle. We gladly welcome mul)ple submissions.

Topics and ObjecPves:
Ba2ling misconcep%ons about HIV/AIDS 1. Describe the common misconcep)ons about HIV/AIDS worldwide and in your chapter.
2. Explore how those misconcep)ons affect people with HIV/AIDS in your chapter.
3. Describe the actual facts about the misconcep)ons men)oned in point #1 .
4. Suggest how individuals, organiza)ons, or policy makers can help fight the misconcep)ons
The various faces of HIV/AIDS 1. Describe the current situa)on of HIV/AIDS in your chapter .
2. Elaborate how HIV/AIDS affects different groups of people differently, i.e. it does not only infect certain groups such as sex workers or homosexuals.
3. Persuade against discrimina)ng people living with HIV/AIDS
Social and country support to people with HIV/AIDS1. Describe the example of common social support provided by country or NGO in your country.
2. Explore how those support can increase the quality of life of people with HIV/AIDS.
3. Explore the problem faced or might be faced by county or NGO to provide support to people with HIV/AIDS.
4. Proposed any support that you think necessary to further increased QoA of people with HIV/AIDS
Requirements:
1. The ar)cle must be original, without plagiarism in any form.
2. The ar)cle must be wriden in English. If local terminology is unavoidable, put it in italics and provide explana)on.
3. References must be men)oned in the bibliography at the end of the essay.
4. Technical requirements:
a. Length limit: 4 A4 pages (including )tle)
b. Font: Times New Roman, 10 c. Spacing: 1,5 space
d. Margin: normal
e. File format: Microson Word (.doc; .docx) 5. Submission procedure:
a. The ar)cle should be sent as an adachment, and biodata (full name, chapter, university) should be wriden in the e-‐mail. Do NOT put biodata in the essay file to facilitate fair assessment of score.

ObjecPve:
Describe a misconcep)on about HIV/AIDS common to your chapter and educate the general public audience about the facts.
Requirements: 1. The poster must be original, without plagiarism in any form.
2. Men)on the source used in a reference box in the poster.
3. The poster shall include the following: a. Title, AMSA-‐Interna)onal logo (provided), AMSA member chapter logo
b. The words “World AIDS Day”
c. The content itself
d. Reference box 4. Technical requirements:
a. Wriden language: English

c. Size: A3 5. Submission procedure:
