Your steadfast love is before my eyes, help me to walk in faithfulness to you. Lord, I love the house in which you dwell, and the place where your glory abides. As a witness with your great congregation around the world, I will bless the Lord. —adapted from Psalm 26

PRELUDE Praise the Lord, Rise Up Rejoicing

Wayne L. Wold INTROIT Your will can never be denied, for you established everything. You are the Lord of earth and sky and all within the heav’nly ring. —Kathleen Pluth

CALL TO WORSHIP (responsively)

O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. ¡Oh Señor, Señor nuestro, cuán glorioso es tu nombre en toda la tierra! (Men) From the lips of children and infants, you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence them! (Women) When I look at your heavens the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them? (All) O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth! ¡Oh Señor, Señor nuestro,

cuán glorioso es tu nombre en toda la tierra!

ああ私たちの主よ。

御名の威厳と栄光は全地に満ち、

天にみなぎっています。 Heer, onze Heer, de hele aarde laat zien hoe geweldig U bent! (All) O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

+* HYMN OF PRAISE Lift Up Your Hearts 1 All People That on Earth Do Dwell Tune: GENEVAN 134/OLD HUNDREDTH

*SHARING THE PEACE OF THE RISEN CHRIST

La paz de Cristo sea contigo; (The congregation may exchange the Peace.)

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (in unison) Lord, you told your disciples that they should be one and that they should put each other before self. We claim to follow you, but we think first of ourselves. Our culture, aspirations, and self-centeredness rarely lead us to live as though we are connected to your global body. Our imaginations do not conceive of your kingdom with people who are not like us. Forgive our narrow view. Cleanse us from selfishness. Awaken our hearts and guide our principles. Nudge us to speak up for the world. Transform us into a healthy body of Christ, living for you. Amen.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE Revelation 7:9-12 GRATEFUL LIVING Hebrews 2:1-3a

Share your prayer concerns by using the prayer request cards found on the table at the back of the sanctuary. Place the requests in the prayer box or offering plate. Please remember in prayer those in the hospital and in care facilities.

Please let the church staff know when you are in the hospital so you can receive spiritual care by the pastoral staff. Call 392-1459.

As we move forward, we can continue to show the Hagoods love and compassion. There is a fund for receiving cash donations that can simply be dropped off at the church office. Please indicate in the memo of your check that it’s for Hagood family. It is common for a meal to be brought to a grieving family. This is not ideal for the Hagood family due to severe allergies. Having them control their food ingredients is safest, but there's still a way we can help provide food for them. We have purchased them a Shipt account, which allows Meijer groceries to be delivered to their home. You can add money to credit their shopping account. 1) Call Shipt at 1 (205) 502-2500. 2) Touch 1 to add a credit to an account as a gift. 3) To identify the account, use: Amy Hagood, 616-990-3058. Thank you for supporting our beloved Hagood family!

The knitting ministry is looking for knitters. We have lots of yarn available, yarn and directions are in a basket outside the library. We invite all knitters to make a shawl for church members or a friend or fam-ily member in need. Thank you.

Calling All Men! Third’s Kids Hope Mentoring Team is looking for a “few good men” willing to make a difference in the life of a young boy. We have had three 2nd grade boys referred to us who could really use a mentor in their life. Please see, call or e-mail Beverley Rannow– [email protected], 616-801-3190.

On Thursday, October 11, at 7:00 p.m., at Holland City Hall (270 S. river), the Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony will host a program, “Holland’s (Un) affordable Housing,” to help bring the issue into focus for the wider community.

WEDNESDAY CHILDREN’S LIFT PROGRAM: Thank you to all the boys and girls who participated in our Fall Mission project, collecting food in the neighborhood for Community Action House. The children did a wonderful job talking to our “neighbors” and were able to collect enough food to fill a van! Thank you, boys and girls. Plan to join us again this Wednesday as we continue to learn about our amazing God and how we can live out our faith at “Campfire Stories”.

BREAKFAST WITH BABY: Next Saturday, Oc-tober 13, is Breakfast with Baby. Volunteers are needed from 9:30 to about 11:30 at Fourth Reformed Church on Washington at 15th St. We will be providing hot breakfast casseroles and will also need to prepare and serve food, help with clothing distribution and perhaps help with crafts for the children. This may be our last opportunity to provide this communi-ty service so I hope many of you will be able to help. Sign-up sheets are in the Gathering Place. Questions? Call Sarah Unzicker at 335-9559.

CHI RHO Women are planning a bus trip to John Ball Zoo on Monday, October 15. We will leave the church at 12:30. If you are inter-ested in joining the fun, please let Marcia Forsman known—616-848-7459.
