• World Community Grid (WCG) is an effort to create the world's largest non-profit public computing grid to work on scientific research projects that benefit humanity.
• Work units would be sent to you. Results will be calculated using your computer's idle time and sent back.
• Launched on November 16, 2004• Supported by IBM.

How to Join?

• Download the client application(8.66 MB for Windows). Client application is available for other platforms also.
• Install and provide internet connectivity to client.
• Register your device and begin contributing.

Concerns
• Download & Upload – 3MB download and 180 KB upload for a large task.
• Management – No need to heed. The client itself downloads the tasks and uploads the results.
• Security - The research applications are digitally signed.
• CPU usage and overheating – Default is 60,60. I use 40,40 and return the results 5 days earlier.
