SEVENTH GRADE CULTURE
We went to the middle school campus to observe and learn about the seventh grade culture. We attended Ms. Brown, Mrs. Kanoy, and Mr. Mac’s classrooms. Through attending the classes, we learned all about how the seventh graders interact with one another as well as their teachers .
INTERACTION BETWEEN STUDENTS
The students were supportive of one another in and outside of the classroom.
They were talking while class was going on.
They showed eye contact while answer questions.
TEACHER INVOLVEMENT WITH THE STUDENTS Every teacher had a
different teaching style Ms. Brown: The students
took notes and were very quiet while she dictated notes
Mrs. Kanoy: The students were very interactive in that class and there was lots more talking
Mr. Mac: His class went from speech to doing work in groups without teacher instruction
MRS. KANOY- CLASSROOM INVOLVMENT

CLASSROOM APPEARANCE
There were many posters/ photographs on the walls of each classroom.
Each classroom had artwork relating to the subject being taught.
Work from the students was being displayed on the walls.
BOY AND GIRL SEGREGATION
In every classroom, the boys and girls were very segregated.
The boys sat in one row or together, while the girls sat together as well.
ENERGY
Many of the students acted bored or tired in the classes
When responding to teachers they gave very little energy
While talking to fellow classmates the energy level rose and they seemed more alert and energetic
TEACHER GUIDANCE
In all of the classes, most of the students needed guidance from the teacher while answering questions.
When the students were writing notes, they had to be reminded often to keep writing and staying focused.
SOCIAL AND LOVING GRADE
Overall the 7th grade is a very social and loving grade
For example, if a student got a answer wrong when being asked a question, their fellow classmates would give them supportive looks and were full of encouragement.
