BELGISCHEWEGEN- VERENIGING

De Belgische Wegenvereniging (BWV) verenigt vertegenwoordigers uit zowel de openbare (federale, regionale en plaatselijke overheden en instellingen) als de private sector (aannemers, toeleveranciers, adviesbureaus, beroepsfederaties, enz.).

In de complexe Belgische context biedt de BWV een uniek forum waar de verschillende spelers in de wegenbouw elkaar kunnen ontmoeten en overleg kunnen plegen.

Sinds zij werd opgericht, heeft de BWV als doel technische vooruitgang te bevorderen in de aanleg, het onderhoud en de exploitatie van wegen. Daarnaast wil zij ook initiatieven voor de mobiliteit en het verkeer op de weg aanmoedigen.

De BWV organiseert specifieke studiedagen, bezoeken aan bouwplaatsen, promotiestands, enz.

De BWV heeft drie categorieën van leden:

• institutionele leden (federale staat en de drie gewesten);

• collectieve leden (lagere overheden, openbare instellingen of instellingen van openbaar nut, wetenschappelijke of technische verenigingen, beroepsfederaties, handelsondernemingen of industriële bedrijven, enz.);

• individuele leden (op persoonlijke basis).

Leden kunnen tegen een voordeeltarief inschrijven voor evenementen die door of in samenwerking met de BWV worden georganiseerd.

BWV-leden zijn meteen ook lid van de World Road Association (PIARC).

De Belgische Wegenvereniging (BWV) is in 2000 ontstaan uit een fusie van twee bestaande verenigingen.

Ze zet een lange traditie van actieve Belgische medewerking in PIARC voort. België was namelijk medeoprichter van de World Road Association of Wereldwegen-vereniging. Twee wereldwegencongressen hebben in België plaatsgevonden: in 1910 (tweede congres, na het oprichtingscongres in 1909 in Parijs) en in 1987.

Als Belgisch nationaal comité in de PIARC vormt de BWV de schakel tussen de Wereldwegenvereniging en de Belgische wegenbranche. Tevens coördineert zij de deelname van de Belgische leden aan PIARC-activiteiten.

In 2017-2020 is BWV-voorzitter Claude Van Rooten tevens voorzitter van de Wereld-wegenvereniging.

Tal van Belgische deskundigen verlenen ook hun medewerking aan technische comités van PIARC. Nadere informatie hierover vindt u op de website van de BWV.

Om de vier jaar houdt de BWV het Belgisch Wegencongres, dé afspraak voor vakmensen in de wegenbranche. Hiervoor wordt afwisselend samengewerkt met de bevoegde Vlaamse, Waalse en Brusselse gewestelijke overheidsdienst.
