During the growth of the ancient civilizations, ancient technology was the result of incredible advances in engineering in ancient times•These advances in the history of

technology Stimulated Societies to adopt new ways of Living and governance.•However many ancient inventions were forgotten, lost to the pages of history, only to be re-invented millennia later.•Here are the best examples of ancient technology and inventions that demonstrate the ingenuity of our ancient ancestors

KAPIL MUNI: Finding how the universe was created

According to Kapil Muni, there are twenty-five principles responsible for the manifestation of the Creation (Samasara), out of which Purusha and Prakriti are eternal and independent of each other. Kapila is not concerned to denythe reality of personal God orMaheshwara. Yet his assertionis that, no arguments canirrefutably establish God'sreality.Therefore, in his model ofcreation the Purusha (Spirit) andPrakrity (matter) are held solelyresponsible for creation, withoutacknowledging an Almighty andintelligent Creator, the God.

Our Indians measure time in terms of motion of celestial bodies.According to our Vedas, There are five Mandalas.They are -

YUGA CONCEPT

1. Chandhra Mandala2. Prudhvi Mandala 3. Surya Mandala 4. Paramesty Mandala 5. Swayambu Mandala

Each mandala will revolve around the next mandala. Due to this revolutions, months, years …………Occur.

Page 7: World Science

ONE MONTH

• The time taken by chandhra mandala to revolve around Prudhvi mandala is ONE MONTH.

• ONE MONTH = 30 DAYS

Page 8: World Science

The time taken by prudhvi mandala to revolve around Surya mandala is ONE YEAR.ONE YEAR = 365 DAYS

1 YEAR

Page 9: World Science
Page 10: World Science

ONE MANVANTHARAM

Page 11: World Science

The time taken by the Paramesty mandal to revolve around the Swayambu mandal (centre of the Universe) is ONE KALPAKAM.

• KALPAKAM is the maximum time period measured by our RUSHIES.

• During one KALPAKAM srusti is continued and during one KALPAKAM srusti is stopped.

• KALPAKAM is the L.C.M of time periods of rotation of planets

• 1000th Part of MAHAYUGAM is called KALIYUGA.Twice of KALIYUGA is called DWAPARAYUGA.Thrice of KALIYUGA is called TRETAYUGA.Four times of KALIYUGA is called KRITAYUGA.

ONE KALPAKAM 432 CRORE YEARS.

Page 12: World Science

KRITAYUGA = 17,28,000 YEARS

TRETAYUGA = 12,96,000 YEARS

DWAPARAYUGA = 8,64,000 YEARS

KALIYUGA = 4,32,000 YEARS ……………………………………………… TOTAL(MAHAYUGA) = 43,20,000 YEARS

Page 13: World Science

YUGA CONCEPT

The following are the corelations of yuga concept with science

1. In the time of our Vedas ,we know the motions of the celestial bodies.

2. American scientists and Geologists had conducted many chemical and geological tests such as carbon dating and finalized that the life

span of earth is approximately 457 crore years.

The largest time measured by us is Kalpa.It is

432 crore years (span of sristi).

Both values are approximately equal.

Page 14: World Science

YUGA CONCEPT

3. According to our Vedas, the time of

evolution of life on earth is 197,29,49,105 years.

According to famous scientist Charles Darwin (19th Century), the evolution of life

on the earth is approximately 200 crore years

Both values are nearly equal.

The Indian Sage who developed Atomic Theory 600 years ago

John Dalton (1766 – 1844), anEnglish chemist and physicist,is the man credited today withthe development of atomictheory. However, a theory of atomswas actually formulated 2,500years before Dalton by anIndian sage and philosopher,known as Acharya Kanad. Acharya Kanad was born in600 BC in Prabhas Kshetra(near Dwaraka) in Gujarat,India. His real name wasKashyap. It was Kanada whooriginated the idea that anu(atom) was an indestructibleparticle of matter.

ARYABHATT

He was a master Astronomerand Mathematician, born in 476CE in Kusumpur (Bihar). In 499 CE, he wrote a text onastronomy and an unparalleltreatise on mathematics called"Aryabhatiyam" He formulated the process ofcalculating the motion of planetsand the time of eclipses. Aryabhatt was the first toproclaim that the earth is round,it rotates on its axis, orbits thesun and is suspended in space -1,000 years before Copernicuspublished his heliocentric theory.

Page 19: World Science

An interesting story states thatthis theory occurred to himwhile he was walking with foodin his hand. As he nibbled at the food in hishand, throwing away the smallparticles, it occurred to himthat he could not divide thefood into further parts and thusthe idea of a matter whichcannot be divided further cameinto existence. He called that indivisiblematter anu, i.e. molecule,which was misinterpreted asatom. He also stated that anu canhave two states - Absolute restand a State of motion.

xistence of Atomic and Sub atomic particles

E The world accounts discovery ofatoms and sub atomic particles toWestern scientists who coinedthese words and theories only inthe early 17th century.An excerpt from LalithaSahasranama, told by Hayagreevato Agasthya muni, dating back tothe distant ages of thepast,describes the Goddess as thesuper consciousness/Brahman thatpervades even the sub atomicparticles within matter. " पुरज्र्यवित पुरधाम: पुरमणु पुरत्पुर” The word "anuvu" means atom. Paramanu is sub-atomic particle,finer than the finest of atom,meaning electrons and the others.

Newton’s Law…200 Years before Newton

• “Objects fall on the earth due to aforce of attraction by the earth.Therefore, the earth, planets,constellations, moon and sun areheld in orbit due to thisattraction.”•The meaning of these lines is parallel to that of Newton’s Law of Gravity.• But these lines are not said bythe European scientist. They aresaid by an Indian - in SuryaSiddhanta, dated 400-500 AD,the ancient Hindu astronomerBhaskaracharya states theselines.• Approximately 1200 years later (1687 AD), Sir Isaac Newton rediscovered this phenomenonand called it the Law of Gravity

SAGE BHARADWAJIn 1875, the Vymaanika-Shaastra, a fourth century BCtext written by MaharshiBhardwaj, was discovered in atemple in India. The book dealt with theoperation of ancient vimanasand included information onsteering, precautions for longflights, protection of theairships from storms andlightning, and how to switchthe drive to solar energy, orsome other “free energy”source. Vimanas were said totake off vertically or dirigible. Bharadwaj the Wise refers tono less than 70 authorities and10 experts of air travel inantiquity.

Sushruta

Born to sage Vishwamitra,Sushruta is the father of surgery. 2600 years ago, he and healthscientists of his time conductedcomplicated surgeries likecesareans, cataract, artificiallimbs, Rhinoplasty (restoration ofa damaged nose), 12 types offractures, 6 types of dislocations,urinary stones and even plasticsurgery and brain surgery. Usage of anesthesia was wellknown in ancient India. He is the author of the book"Sushruta Samhita", in which hedescribes over 300 surgicalprocedures and 125 surgicalinstruments.

Ancient science knows more thanmodern science?

The Vedas claim that thereare living entitieseverywhere - even in fire. Modern science, however,presumed that no life couldexist in fire.This presumption is in factthe basis for the process ofsterilization. But recent advancementsin the field of medicinehave shown that microbescalled 'fire bacteria' surviveeven in fire.

Varahamihira

Varahamihir's book "panch siddhant", noted that the moon and planets are lustrous not because of their own light but due to sunlight.

In the "Bruhad Samhita" and "Bruhad Jatak", he has revealed his discoveries in the domains of geography, constellation, science, botany and animal science.

In his treatise on botanical science, Varahamihir presents cures for various diseases afflicting plants and trees.

Amputations-artificial limbs

The earliest surgical amputations were performed for life saving reasons by Ambroise Pare in 1529The earliest recorded use of a lower limb artificial limb was that of a Persian soldier, Hegesistratus, in 484 B.CAn artificial limb of copper and wood leg dating from 300 B.C unearthed at Capri, Italy in 1858.

Rasa Vaidya- Acharya Nagarjuna

Nagarjuna explained the methods to extract silver,gold, tin,copper from their alloys.Even now ,scientists refer “Rasaratnakaram”for the details of the compounds of”Mercury.”He prepared so many alloys which are exactly similar to the Gold.The process of extracting Gold from Mercury is called “Rasavidya which is well known to Nagarjuna.It is also called as Alkemi Vidya.So long scientists thought that , it is impossible to convert one element into another element because their atomic numbers are different. So their properties are different.But Ruther fort proved that one element can be converted in to another element artificially. This process is called artificial transformation of elements

The following are the examples. Artificial transformation can

be possible if the atomic numbers are very close to each other.

• So to obtain GOLD through artificial transformation, the metal to be selected is MERCURY.
