WENATCHEE — In this weekend’s three-game series with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, the Wenatchee Wild hit both ends of the spectrum and points in between.

The Wild split the two weekend games after losing on Friday night, beating their rivals on Saturday before falling on Sunday.

“The fi rst game (Friday) we didn’t have the compete level we needed, the second game (Saturday) we were emotionally and physically engaged, and the third game (Sunday) we had spurts where we were engaged,” Baxter said.

2010 Leavenworth Oktoberfest Marathon and Half Marathon

LEAVENWORTH — An all-time high 1,950 participants competed in the two races of the sixth-annual Leavenworth Oktoberfest Marathon and Half Marathon Saturday, enjoying some warm early fall weather on the course.

“It was great. Beautiful weather, lots of people ... all in all it was a great success,” said Ian Crossland, one of three race directors.

Leavenworth resident Marlene Farrell claimed her third-straight

win in the women’s half marathon, fi nishing in one hour, 21 minutes, 23 seconds, over two minutes ahead of second-place fi nisher Cori Mooney.

“I absolutely love the course,” said the 35-year-old Farrell, who will be running in the New York City Marathon in November.

Even in the win, Farrell said her legs weren’t as fresh as they were in her 2009 win, when her time was about 40 seconds faster. She attributed the

slow-down to the amount of training she has done, which has included running the Enchantments recently.

Seth Swanson of Olympia took the men’s half marathon in 1:18:35, almost a half-minute ahead of second-place runner Greg Wittendorf of Seattle.

Jodi Brautaset of Mount Vernon was victorious in the women’s marathon, but had Seattle’s Jill Frank right on her tail. Brautaset fi nished in 3:22:40, while Frank crossed the fi nish line with a time of 3:22:55.

In the men’s marathon, Mark Donahue of Seattle was a full nine minutes ahead of the next runner,

winning in 2:43:18.Doug Wood of Wenatchee was

seventh with a time of 3:38:35, Joe Dirusso of Leavenworth was 10th in 3:47:13, and Matt Monda of Ephrata took 25th in 4:12:31.

Wenatchee’s Allison Johnson took fi fth in the women’s half marathon with a time of 1:31:38, and Jayme Hoglund of East Wenatchee came in 24th at 1:41:04.

Brandon Hoglund of East Wenatchee was fi fth in the men’s half marathon at 1:24:46, while fellow East Wenatchee residents Ryan Peterson (1:28:16) and Calvin Stapleton (1:34:04) took 10th and 24th, respectively. Leavenworth’s Michael Scott was 21st

Farrar 81st at WorldsGEELONG, Australia —

Tyler Farrar fi nished 81st in the UCI Road World Championships on Sunday.

Farrar, a Wenatchee native who rides for Garmin-Transitions, crossed the line nearly 15 minutes after Norwegian rider Thor Hushovd, who completed the 262.7-kilometer race in six hours, 21 minutes and 49 seconds.

Farrar fi nished in a pack that included fellow Americans and Garmin-Transitions teammates Danny Pate and Christian Vandevelde.
