Summary On 5th October 2009, Global Peace Pioneers organized a program in
Tarnol, Islamabad to celebrate World Teachers’ Day. The Theme of the
program was “upholding the Future by appreciating our teachers”.
In the program, different activities were done in order to get the
support of the teachers and students. In which lecture on topic
“International Phonetic Alphabets” delivered to teachers and students.
The chairperson GPP also highlighted the importance of the World
Teachers’ day and praised teachers’ efforts in promoting the peace,
tolerance and harmony among the students and in the society as a
whole through the education.
The program was attended by people, belongs to different walks of life
including teachers, students, youths, peace groups and community
members who supported a lot to make the event successful. In the
program, 32 participants were students, 11 Teachers, 10 Peace
groups, and 80 male and female community members.
Background
October 5th is the day that is dedicated to the hard work that is input
by the teacher all year long, a day that is a complete tribute to the
teachers. This day is also representing a significant effort to raise
awareness, understanding and appreciation for the vital contribution
that teachers make to education and development across the World.
This day is just a mere reflection of love for and attachment to the
teaching profession. On October 5, 1994, the first World Teachers' Day
was held by the UNESCO. Since then, this event has been organized

on the same date every year to pay compliment to teachers whose
role in the education of young people and adults remains essential.
The Program also featured by the number of poems read by the
students of the Star Public School. Students also gave flowers to
teachers showing the patience and love for their teachers.
A Tribute to Teachers by GPP Teacher's day is now one of the occasion/event that is looked forward
by the teachers and
students alike as on this
occasion its not only when
teachers are praised but
also around various schools,
colleges and universities
students dress up as a
representation of their
teachers and take various
lectures that are assigned to
the teachers they represent. As the day passes the students perform
the regular activities that are performed by the teachers. On this day
students realize what it means to be a teacher and what it means to
control the future of several students in their classes and also teachers
are reminded what it felt like when they were the students.
Alike, to appreciate teacher’s efforts, Global Peace Pioneers organized
program in Star Public School in Tarnol, Islamabad. The reason of
organizing event was to celebrate World Teachers’ Day and to give the
learning opportunity to the deprived section of the society.

A lecture was also given in the program on topic “International
Phonetic Alphabets (IPA)”. The purpose of lecture was to tell students
and teachers about
symbols and how to
pronounce those symbols.
That will help teacher and
students reading English
dictionary and develop
British accent in future.
The Program also featured

Purpose of the Program
• To celebrate World Teachers’ Day and appreciated Teachers’
dedications in grooming up of our children to become a better
citizen.
• To sensitize students, youths, community members and peace
groups about teachers’ role in building the society peaceful.
• To create an attachment among students, youths, community
members and teachers.

Impact of the Program Celebrating this program would bring meaningful impact in the lives
children, youths and community members. People, peace groups,
youths and teachers will interact with each other to build peace locally
and globally through education. They will work hard in educating their
children for making society free from all forms violence. Teachers will
develop new strategies to teach children.
Extract of Speech
Ms. Hina Iqbal, Chairperson-GPP
At the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, Ms Hina Iqbal said, “Teachers
play an important role in guiding children, youths and adults through
the life long learning process. At all levels of education, she noted,
teachers are the very heart of the efforts to establish the common
foundations for the acquisition of skills, knowledge, culture, and
respect for constructive achievements that are essential for the
economic, social and cultural process of society. She included that
teachers not only educate children but help turn them responsible
adults. Without the support of teachers, none of us would have been
able to reach the place in our life as well as career, which we hold
today. In the”
Students Message for Teachers Zeeshan is the student of class 7. He commented on World Teachers’
Day “school is my second home where teachers teach me about how
to live in the society”.

Javeria is a student of class 8. She remarked that “the teacher’s
comment in my education will help me to improve my learning”.
Amna is the student of class 7. She commented that “teacher teaches
me how to read, write and speak. It helps me to reflect on and expand
my own thinking and learning”.
Reema is the student of class 6. She also commented that “teacher
teaches us what we don’t know”.
Teachers Remarks
On the World Teachers’ Day, Teachers remarked that they have faced
adequate problem. Low training opportunity, adequate allocation of
resources, low career development and publicizing appointments may
decrease the education ratio in Pakistan. To increase enrollment of
students and standardization of education, government must increase
allocation of resources and pre-service trainings for teachers.
Teachers’ also remarked that Pakistan is facing extremism more since
long time. We, as a teacher, will play significant play in educating
young generation to get Pakistan free from all discrimination and
hatred. We will start delivering lectures on peace and tolerance to
students (who are the future of Pakistan) in every public and private
school to reduce the extremism.
General Public Remarks and Comments
Community members stated that teachers transform our live from
child hood to college and make us better citizens. Teachers inspire the
students to become better human being. Teachers are people who
shaped and are responsible in making many of us capable citizens of

this world. Rasheed who is working organization said that teacher is a
person who always helps everybody to get the knowledge and always
stands beside the students when they have problems. Anwar ali who is
working in the governmental organization remarked that What I am
today is all because of my teachers’ inspiration and encouragement
Conclusion
GPP believes that teachers are the only who can bring peace and
tolerance through education. They can teach students which would
make this world a much better place to live in. In order to pay tribute
to teachers, Global Peace Pioneers observed World Teachers’ Day by
organizing program with the sound theme “upholding the Future by
appreciating our teachers” in Islamabad.
GPP will also initiate teachers’ training Program for the teachers in
order to meet Millennium Development Goals and the demands of the
21st century.
