Today, you will experience the glory ofChristian Rome when you visit the Vatican, home toone of the greatest museums in the world. And, ofcourse, you’ll enter St. Peter’s Basilica and the SistineChapel, where you’ll view Michelangelo’s frescoeswhich have been restored to their full, colorful glory.

Day 12 – August 4, ThursdayAncient Rome

History is woven through the streets and neighborhoodsof Rome as in no other city. Today, you’ll explore themany wonders of ancient Rome when you visit themagnificent Colosseum and the Pantheon. From themost sacred hill of ancient Rome, Campidoglio, you’llview the Forum. You’ll also view the Circus Maximus,the Arch of Titus, the famous Baths of Caracalla andthe Arch of Constantine. You’ll see the Victor EmanuelMonument and the Monti Region, Rome’s most ancientneighborhood which spreads over three of her sevenhills. In the afternoon, you’ll discover why Rome is alsoknown as the “City of Love,” You’ll explore the romanceof Rome as you climb the graceful Spanish Steps andstop at the famous Trevi Fountain. Legend says thatthose who toss a coin into the fountain will one dayreturn to Rome to toss another into the waters of Trevi.
