“The world is not dangerous because of those who do not harm but because of those who look at it without doing

anything.”

-Albert Einstein

The people of the world are like a puzzle piece and we must each work together as a whole to change and

make the world a better place.

The people of the world are like a puzzle piece and we

must each work together as a whole to change and make the world

a better place.

This fifteen year old girl from South Africa did a great job of depicting the world as a puzzle. Each people is a piece to the puzzle and it is imperative to work together to make the world a better place. In the background, there are photographs of heroes who have helped lead the world to change. The anchor seems to symbolize the importance of these figures and how they have “anchored” changes throughout time.

Despite cultural and language barriers and differences, we are

all citizens of one world.

Page 5: Worldviewofchildren

Despite cultural and language barriers and differences,

we are all citizens of one world.

The twelve year old children from the United Kingdom really showed their belief in the “human race”. Despite ethnicity, cultural, and language differences, all people are citizens of the world. The quilt of the flags of countries from around the world seems to symbolize the children’s belief that we all must work together to change the world for the better.

Each country must work together for the better of the

whole (earth).

Page 7: Worldviewofchildren

Each country must work together for the better of the whole (earth).

The seven year old from Lithuania who painted this picture seems believe that all of the continents in the world must work together in piece. Many countries have contrasting views and beliefs, but all have one thing in common, they are citizens of the world. It is imperative for countries to work together harmoniously.

At the heart of the world is half “good”, half “corrupt”.

Page 9: Worldviewofchildren

At the heart of the world is half “good”, half “corrupt”.

At first glance, this picture drawn by an eleven year old from Germany seems to depict the world as a heart or love for the world, showing night and day. However, at a closer observation you can see the strength and meaning of the pictures on the “bright” and “dark” side of the world. The “bright” or “day” side of the heart seems to symbolize the good of the world, the beauty of the world, nature. However the “dark” or “nighttime” side of the world seems to depict a more harmful story. It shows all that is wrong with the world. The pollution, oil spills, what is killing the world in an essence.

among countries.

The many people of the world, and the differences among

countries.

The six year old from Russia who drew this picture seems to have a strong grasp on the differences of people from all over the world. In this picture you are really able to see her view of each continent. The United States have powerful men and women, who are educated and in the business world. While Africa still expresses their culture through their dress and are seemingly less present in the “professional” or civilized world.

Greek mythology and culture is still a

powerful part of Greek life.

Page 14: Worldviewofchildren

Greek mythology and culture is still a powerful part of

Greek life.

It is obvious that the fifteen year old from Greece has a strong belief in her culture’s past and the country still has a respect for Greek mythology. Her religious beliefs that Gods are holding our world together and watching over us is evident. The Gods at the bottom of the picture seem to be working together to make the world what it is today, possibly battling for power, which has resulted in the corruption that is present in the world today.

“Be the change that you want to see in the world.”

- Mohandas Gandhi

The world is a precious flower, slowly dying if we do

not take care of it.

Page 17: Worldviewofchildren

The world is a precious flower, slowly dying if we do not take

care of it.

The twelve year old from Japan who created this piece has a strong grasp on the harm that has been done to the earth. From pollution to war, the world is slowly dying and something must be done to bring it back to life. The picture shows that there is still hope for the world and that the citizens can work to fix it.

Page 18: Worldviewofchildren

A bandaid may be a quick fix for the world, but we must

heal all the wrongs, which will take time.

Page 19: Worldviewofchildren

A bandaid may be a quick fix for the world, but we must

heal all the wrongs, which will take time.

The eleven year old from the United States has obviously been made aware of the problems affecting the world. The bandaid, which children consider to have certain healing powers will begin to fix the world. However, the citizens of the world must take initiative to begin to heal the world for good, and begin to see how their actions affect people all over the world.

Wars and destruction are killing or breaking apart

the world.

Page 21: Worldviewofchildren

Wars and destruction are killing or breaking apart the world.

The fifteen year old from Norway who drew this picture seemed to capture the destruction that wars have had on the world. We are no longer “one world” or “one human race”. The world is divided and there is a lack of wholeness. His message is to stay together, to work together and make peace to reunite the citizens of the world.

Page 22: Worldviewofchildren

The people of the world must put the world back

together.

Page 23: Worldviewofchildren

The people of the world must put the world back together.

The fifteen year old from Sri Lanka has obvious beliefs that the world is broken. Just like in the age old nursery rhyme, “Humpty Dumpty”, it must be put back together again. The child feels that the people of the world must unite and work together to put the world back together and make it the peaceful and harmonious place that had been created at the beginning of time.
