WelcomeWe are very glad to have you worshiping our gracious God with us today.

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God.

To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder will be standing next to the pastor following the service.

Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children’s Church or any other children’s activity. Several kiosks are available in the Welcome Center. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available if you need assistance checking in.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-k through fourth grade during the morning services. A leader will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms during the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in pre-k through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We also provide a Mother/Infant Room located beside Nursery 1 which is equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.

Additional Seating Additional seating for morning and evening worship services is available each week in St. Andrew’s Hall.

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

†The Call to Worship ................................................................................ John 4:23-24

The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.

God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.

The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

In the last days, God says,I will pour out my Spirit on all people.Your sons and daughters will prophesy,Your young men will see visions,Your old men will dream dreams.Even on my servants, both men and women,I will pour out my Spirit in those days,And they will prophesy.I will show wonders in the heavens aboveAnd signs on the earth below,Blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darknessAnd the moon to bloodBefore the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

And we believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried; and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; and he shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom shall have no end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets; and we believe in one holy catholic* and apostolic church; we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ...........................................................Titus 3:4-6When the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the wash-ing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior.

The Corporate Confession of Sin

Most holy and merciful Father,We confess to you and to one another, that we have sinned against you by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart and mind and strength. We have not fully loved our neighbors as ourselves. We have not always had in us the mind of Christ. You alone know how often we have grieved you by wasting your gifts, by wandering from your ways.Forgive us, we pray you, most merciful Father; and free us from our sin. Renew in us the grace and strength of your Holy Spirit, for the sake of Jesus Christ, your Son, our Savior. Amen.

The Personal Confession of Sin (Please kneel if able to do so)

The Offertory—I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say .......................................... arr. Ortega

*Online giving is available at firstpresaugusta.org and at the giving kiosk

*†The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.

And also with you.

Words: Horatio Bonar, 1846 | Music: John B. Dykes, 1868 | Arranged: Fernando Ortega | ©2006 Curb Songs/Cerdo Verde Music

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto me and rest;Lay down, O weary one, lay down your head upon my breast.”I came to Jesus as I was, weary and worn and sad;I found in him a resting place, and he has made me glad.

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Behold I freely giveThe living water; thirsty one, stoop down and drink and live.”I came to Jesus and I drank of that life-giving stream; My thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in him.

Words and Music: Mark Altrogge | ©1988 Sovereign Grace Praise | Dayspring Music Inc.

Give me one pure and holy passion,Give me one magnificent obsession,Give me one glorious ambition for my life, To know and follow hard after you.

To know and follow hard after you,To grow as your disciple in your truth. This world is empty, pale, and poorCompared to knowing you, my Lord.Lead me on and I will run after you,Lead me on and I will run after you.

†Song—Twelve Gates to the City .....................................African American Spiritual

Have you heard of the city? Streets are paved with gold.Have you heard of the city? Streets are paved with gold.Have you heard of the city? Streets are paved with gold. There are twelve gates to the city, Hallelu.

O what a beautiful city, O what a beautiful city,O what a beautiful city,There’s twelve gates to the city, Hallelu.

Three gates in the east, three gates in the west,Three gates in the north, three gates in the south.Twelve gates to the city, Hallelu.

Then there are twelve gates to the city,Then there are twenty-four elders in the city,And there are forty-eight angels in the city,And they’ll be waiting for me in the city.Yes, we’re gonna shout Hallelujah in the city,Right there in God’s great big beautiful city, Hallelu.

O what a beautiful city, (meet me in the city)O what a beautiful city, (meet me in the city)O what a beautiful city, (meet me in the city)There’s twelve gates to the city, Hallelujah!

From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea,Creation’s revealing your majesty. From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring,Every creature unique and the song that it sings, all exclaiming

Indescribable, uncontainable, You placed the stars in the sky and you know them by name,You are amazing, God.All powerful, untamable, awestruck we fall to our kneesAs we humbly proclaim, you are amazing, God.

Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go,Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow?Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light,Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night?

Indescribable, uncontainable, You placed the stars in the sky and you know them by name,You are amazing, God.All powerful, untamable, awestruck we fall to our kneesAs we humbly proclaim, you are amazing, God.
