WelcomeWe are very glad to have you worshiping our gracious God with us today.

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God.

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available in our Welcome Center, located through the doorway on either side of the high pulpit. You can also visit our website at firstpresaugusta.org.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-k through fourth grade during the morning services. A leader will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms during the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in pre-k through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We also provide a Mother/Infant Room equipped with audio located beside Nursery 1. Ushers are available to direct you.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder will be standing next to the pastor following the service.

†The Call to Worship ........................................................................................Psalm 86:8-10

Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; They will bring glory to your name. For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

O Lord most holy, holy and mighty,O loving Father, hear us as to thee we call.Grant us our daily bread with which our souls are fed,Father, Father, hear as to thee we call.Father, Father, thou art the Lord of all.

Thou who almighty art, dwell thou in every heart,In all our sorrows grant us peace and rest in thee. And in temptation’s hour, save with thy mighty power,Father, Father, hear as to thee we call.Father, Father, thou art the Lord, the Lord of all.

†The Invocation (Please lift hands)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell.* The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic** church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Corporate Confession of Sin

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ................................................. Ezekiel 36:24-28For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.

†The Response .............................................................................................Lobe Den Herren

(Please kneel if able to do so)The Personal Confession of Sin

O great and everlasting God, who dwells in unapproachable light, who searches and knows the thoughts and intentions of the heart; we confess that we have not loved you with all our heart, nor with all our soul, nor with all our mind, nor with all our strength; nor our neighbors as ourselves. We have loved what we ought not to have loved; we have coveted what is not ours; we have not been content with your provisions for us. We have complained in our hearts about our family, about our friends, about our health, about our occupations, about your church, and about our trials. We have sought our security in those things which perish, rather than in you, the everlasting God. Chasten, cleanse, and forgive us, through Jesus Christ, who is able for all time to save us who approach you through him, since he always lives to make intercession for us. Amen. Based upon Deuteronomy 6 and Hebrews 7

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Offertory—Jesu, The Very Thought of Thee ................................................... Thiman

*The Offering (Please take a moment to sign the attendance register.)

Jesu, the very thought of thee with sweetness fills my breast; But sweeter far thy face to see, and in thy presence rest.

Nor voice can sing, nor heart can frame, nor can the mem’ry findA sweeter sound than thy blest name, O Savior of mankind.

O hope of every contrite heart, O joy of all the meek,To those who fall how kind thou art, how good to those who seek.

But what to those who find? Ah this: nor tongue nor pen can show,Can show the love of Jesus Christ, none but his loved ones know.

Jesu, our only joy be thou, as thou our prize wilt be;Jesu, be thou our glory now and through eternity!

*†The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.

And also with you.

Savior I come, quiet my soul, remember.Redemption’s hill where your blood was spilled for my ransom.

Everything I once held dear, I count it all as loss.Lead me to the cross where your love poured out.Bring me to my knees. Lord, I lay me down.Rid me of myself, I belong to you, O lead me.Lead me to the cross.

You were as I, tempted and tried, human. The Word became flesh, bore my sin in death. Now you’re risen.
