w.o.w. whats on winchester weeks 7-8 edition

The Final Countdown It seems like a short time ago that I was welcoming everyone back from the Christmas break and it is now the start of the final term of the year! Although I cannot believe how quick this year has gone, it is even more of a reason to make good use of the time left, and enjoy the last few weeks before the long summer holiday! Despite it nearly signalling the end of the year, the summer term is my personal favourite as the sun and warm weather really adds to the Winchester experience as everyone relaxes and soaks up the rays outside the Terrace Bar. An added bonus is that a brand new fridge means milkshakes are now available – amazing! The entertainments schedule is also looking epic – flirt! themes include Pirates, Toga and the legendary Foam Party whilst not forgetting the Summer Ball on Friday 20 th May with Wretch 32 headlining and so much more going on across all 3 levels of the University Centre. Tickets are available now for £25 so do not miss out! The forthcoming end of the year also brings with it the need to plan ahead for the future. Nominations for the Student Union elections are still open until 4 th May so if you are interested in running the SU then pick up a nomination form from the SU Reception. It is vital to think early about what you want to for when you finish University and what is needed to land that job you want. Student Services offer FREE CV drop-ins and workshops to help you with this or anything about employability in general. All listings are available on the portal: My Portal > Student Services > Careers > Events, so do take advantage of this invaluable service! Student officers from all over the country also met over Easter in Newcastle for the NUS National conference to debate and discuss motions and priorities and elect officers for the next academic year. It was a pleasure to represent Winchester so please do not hesitate to ask me any questions about the event. Lastly, a big shout out to all those finishing their FYP this week , before the deadline on the 4 th May. I hope you are managing the stress and enjoy the celebrations once it is over! A further shout out also to those who went on tour over Easter – I am writing this before all tourists have left but, whether you went to Rimini or Amsterdam, I am sure you did Winchester proud!
