WOW@KKH (We are One Working @ KKH)
A KKH Employee Engagement Programme
Introduction
All new employees attend the Employee Orientation Programme (EOP). During these sessions, new employees shared that they had enjoyed the sessions and benefited from them. Human Resources Talent Development (HR TD) also received feedback to organise a similar programme for staff who have been working with KKH for a number of years. HR TD took up the challenge to organise a programme with the purpose to keep long-serving staff updated on the latest developments within the hospital.
Identification of Opportunity
The objectives of the WOW@KKH programme include: Identify KKH’s milestones and successes Create an inspirational sense of belonging for staff Rekindle staff passion at KKH Build relationships with staff from the various departments Generate enthusiasm and inspire others at the workplace
Objectives
When designing WOW@KKH, HR TD paid particular attention to the purpose of connecting to the hearts of this diversified workforce. The team considered the mature workforce and language abilities to ensure that the activities designed were inclusive to all participants. LSA recipients for the year were invited to attend this one-day programme, focusing on KKH’s core values namely Compassion, Integrity and Collaboration. Introduced in 2013 and enhanced in 2014, the programme aims to acknowledge the employees’ contributions, invite them to share their motivating journey and what “WOW”ed them to remain at KKH. It is also an exclusive platform for senior management to meet and show their appreciation.
Methodology
A total of 11 sessions for 211 participants were scheduled and deployed in 2013 (6 sessions) and 2014 (5 sessions). The feedback from the Pre/Post Surveys and Programme Evaluation had been very positive. There was great improvement in participants’ sense of engagement at the end of the sessions. Some of the “Strongly Agree” improved results from the pre/post survey:
