PILCS came from behind to win the second ever Welsh Premier
Women’s League Cup by beating Swansea City 3-2 at Port Talbot’s
GenQuip Stadium on Friday evening.
Watched by National Team Manager Jayne Ludlow, Swansea had the
lion’s share of the early possession but in the 20th minute left back
Amanda John denied PILCS from benefiting from their first meaningful
attack as she cleared bravely off the line.
The Swans reacted well to that genuine scare and took the lead from the
very last move of the opening period as Carrie Slack headed powerfully
home from six yards.
The second period however belonged well and truly to PILCS.
Five minutes after the restart, Amy Thrupp went tumbling in the
Swansea area but referee Charlotte Carpenter confidently ignored
PILCS’s claims for a penalty.
The Gwent outfit did claw themselves level after 67 minutes as Kate
Jeremiah’s looping shot floated over Ffion Ashman before nestling in the
corner of the Swansea keeper’s net.
PILCS pounced twice again in the following 7 minutes as Amy Thrupp
(73) and Lyndsey Davies (75) took full advantage of their respective
chances to all but seal the victory for Wayne Jeremiah’s girls.
Katy Hosford’s well placed header halved the deficit with 10 minutes left
but PILCS held on to claim their first ever major trophy.

Belle Joins Nomads
on Loan Gap Connah’s Quay have signed
Carmarthen Town’s Cortez Belle on a
domestic loan until the end of the season.
Belle was the Old Gold’s captain last
season and could prove to be a versatile
acquisition as the Nomads aim to secure
their Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League
status.
Belle played in the Football League for
Chester City during the 2004/05 season,
but he was red carded three times between
September and January and only made one
first-team appearance after that before his
release. His first spell in the League was
with Llanelli and he has also played at
Northwich Victoria, Merthyr, Newport and
Chippenham Town.
Llandudno FC clinch
northern promotion
place With a 2-1 win at Penycae FC,
Llandudno took the Huws Gray Alliance
title with one match to go.
In their 22nd season in the second-tier
league, the Seasiders lifted the title for
the first time. Alan Morgan’s side have
now achieved their long-time dream of
promotion to the Welsh Premier League.

ABERYSTWYTH TOWN www.atfc.org.uk
Aberystwyth Town FC were proud and delighted to learn of Academy Product Tom Bradshaw's
Wembley appearance last week, representing Walsall in the Johnson's Paint Trophy Final in front
of 72,315 fans.
Centre forward Tom, who wears the Number 9 short for Walsall is
currently enjoying his best ever season having scored 13 goals from 23
League One appearances for the Saddlers, and he was named on standby
for Wales' Senior Squad in October.
Shrewsbury-born Tom was a part of Aberystwyth Town's Academy for a
number of years while his family were living in Tywyn, and he made his
debut for the Black and Greens in 2009, scoring 2 goals in four games
and coming on as a substitute in the 2009 Welsh Cup Final.
Bradshaw then moved to Shrewsbury Town, scoring 17 goals in 89
appearances over 5 years before his move to the Bescot Stadium last
summer. Having completed five years of education in Wales Tom has
also played for Wales' Under 19s and Under 21s side - and he scored on his debut for both, as he did at
Shrewsbury and Walsall. In fact the Black and Greens are the only side Tom failed to score for on his
debut!
Everyone at the Club congratulates Tom and his family on a major achievement, and wish him all the best
for his future career, which at present looks very promising indeed. Photo – Bradshaw when he was at Park Avenue

Lakesiders knocked out of NEWFA Cup.
Monday night football saw Bala’s Under
19’s knocked out of the NEWFA Cup thanks
to a first half goal by Airbus.
Bala began brightly on the 3G pitch with
Ryan Jones driving forward and forcing the
goalkeeper into a save after 2 minutes on the
clock.
Aled Bayley made a great clearance to stop
an Airbus attack which the resulting corner
fell straight into French’s arms.
Chances were few and far between but the
home side took the lead when the forward
slipped through a gap in the defence and
slotted in.
It was a quiet game on the whole from Bala
but towards the end of the first period started
to create some chances with Parry’s shot
floating inches over the crossbar, Batten’s
driven shot testing the shotstopper from 25
yards and a Matty Evans cross being saved
by the goalie.
It was job done by Airbus in the first half with no change in the scoreline in the second half. Hannah Gwenllian

gap CONNAH’S QUAY www.the-nomads.co.uk The Nomads are pleased to announce the loan signing of Cortez Belle for the remainder of the season.
Belle joins The Nomads from fellow play off conference side, Carmarthen Town, where in 44 appearances, he has scored
12 goals. Prior to his time at Carmarthen, Belle played for Port Talbot Town and Llanelli in the Welsh Premier League,
making over 75 appearances.
Coventry-born Belle has plenty of footballing experience, having played at Merthyr Tydfil, Chester City, Newport
Country, and more recently, Halifax Town, Northwich Victoria and Chippenham Town.
Belle will wear the number 10 jersey and is immediately available for The Nomads' crunch fixture with Rhyl on Saturday
afternoon.
On the move, Assistant Manager, Jay Catton said "Cortez is a proven striker and central defender in the Welsh Premier
League who has been one of the best players for the last five years. He is massively experienced and has been top class
for Port Talbot and Carmarthen recently. He's a player that nobody enjoys playing against due to his superb strength and
aerial ability - ultimately, he is a winner. When the opportunity to sign him on loan for the remainder of the season arose,
we jumped at the opportunity. After speaking with him, he was exactly what we wanted for the club, showing superb
enthusiasm and knowledge of the game, and he was fully behind the opportunity to join The Nomads.“No doubt he will
be a great signing for us and will contribute massively in our push for survival and potentially European play offs."Catton
concluded "A huge thanks has to go to Mark Aizlewood and Gareth Thomas from Carmarthen Town for making the
transfer such a smooth process."

PRESTATYN TOWN www.ptfconline.co.uk Neil Gibson had this to say after the 2-5 defeat at Carmarthen:
“I know it sounds stupid to say after getting beat 5-2 but I thought the lads were a credit to the football club. They
kept going right to the end!
“I thought we were unlucky in terms of the first and third goals and& the sendings off. Everything got chucked at us
but the lads kept fighting for the cause. The supporters were fantastic to drive them on again and it just goes to show
what a loyal bunch of fans we have got. We are already relegated and they come down to South Wales and make
more noise than the home fans. It was very pleasing proud day apart from the result but it was a proud day be a part
of Prestatyn Town. With a bunch of players pulling together, with the fans it is a great start to the rebuilding for
what’s to come in the future” Tony O’Reilly
RHYL FC www.rhylfc.co.uk RHYL FC midfielder Levi Mackin has been awarded the
Welsh Cup Player of the Quarter Final Round...
The once-capped Wales under 21 player was awarded the Man
of the Match in the Lilywhites 2-1 away win at Carmarthen
Town and his sterling performance in front of the live S4C
cameras has seen him been awarded a second accolade.
Mackin (pictured in white), 28, is a former Wrexham, York
and Chester midfielder who has also played for Bangor City
and Conwy Borough in the Welsh pyramid. He joined Rhyl in
the summer and has been a regular in Greg Strong’s team,
making 22 appearances.

Wilde Inducted into Chester Hall of Fame
The New Saints’ Mike Wilde, whose goals fired former club Chester City to the Evo-Stik Division One North title
in the reformed club’s inaugural season, has been confirmed as the latest Chester FC Hall of Fame inductee.
Wilde who is currently in his second spell with The Saints, received the honour after Chester’s game against
Dartford on Tuesday the 17th of March.
Neil Young signed the Birkenhead-born striker from Fleetwood in July 2010 and he scored a hat-trick in the fan-
owned club’s first home league match, a 6-0 win against Trafford.
Wilde ended the campaign with a magnificent 36 goals in just 43 league games as the Blues clinched the title in a
nail-biting finale at Garforth.
Although injuries restricted his appearances the following season, Wilde was part of the Chester squad that won the
Evo-Stik Premier Division title.
He scored 46 goals in 66 games in all competitions before leaving in summer 2012 to re-join the Corbett Sports
Welsh Premier League Champions.
Wilde became the 13th member of the Chester FC Hall of Fame alongside Grenville Millington, Gary Talbot, Daryl
Clare, Peter Jackson, Stuart Rimmer, Trevor Storton, Derek Draper, Iain Jenkins, Mike Metcalf, Elfed Morris, Ken
Roberts and George Horan.
The TNS number 18 has been prolific since returning to the WPL and having won the Golden Boot in 2013/2014 the
striker has scored an impressive 15 League goals during the current campaign.!

TNS youngsters take on Urawa
Reds
The TNS FC Scholars and members of the TNS Under 16′s
played in two very intense and high quality games against
Urawa Reds from Japan at Park Hall Stadium.
The boys were split into two squads allowing all the players
to play in their favoured positions as well as giving Steve
Benyon, Steve Evans and Scott Ruscoe a chance to assess
the squads for next season, as well as for the remaining
games both for the Under 19′s and Under 16′s.
The first game was a fantastic game of football, with the
TNS boys securing a 3-2 victory. A huge well done to
Izaack Lambert, Josh Baldwin, Owen Hough and Jack
Jones, who performed superbly well and didn’t look out of
place at all.
Jack managed to score two goals which added to an
excellent headed goal from Tom Ash.
Urawa Reds scored a well worked team goal, as well as a
super free-kick right at the death.
The second game again was a fantastic match, with the reds
managing to secure a 2-0 victory.
Again, the visitors managed to score two very well worked
goals, but we had numerous changes to score.
Finally, a huge thank you to Alan Keeling and Urawa Reds
for ensuring that these excellent games were played.

THE LAST WORD by Gwyn Derfel Well what a weekend that was!
As we all know Wales secured an impressive and important win out in Israel on Saturday night and everyone I have
seen since the final whistle has had a visible spring in their step. Huge congratulations to everyone involved and
thanks for bringing my personal lifelong dream a step closer to reality.
However it wasn’t all about the National Team over the weekend as I was fortunate enough to experience a
domestic final and two crucial Corbett Sports WPL matches.
The GenQuip Stadium in Port Talbot hosted the second ever Welsh Premier Women’s League Cup Final on Friday.
PILCS came from behind to beat Swansea City in an enthralling encounter which was witnessed by a crowd of 335.
The standard of football and the volume of fans was really pleasing and a definite sign that the women’s game in
Wales is going in the right direction.
Gap Connah’s Quay took a huge step towards securing their WPL status by winning 2-1 at Rhyl on Saturday
afternoon. I really enjoy visiting the Corbett Sports Stadium as the fans are very passionate and even more vocal! It
was a fairly contested match but Gap took their chances and that was that.
On Sunday at a blustery Park Avenue I witnessed an Airbus masterclass as they beat Aberystwyth and closed the
gap on Bala to 3 points in the race to secure Europa League qualification. The final three weeks of the season are
certainly going to exciting and tense affairs at both ends of the table.
The best of luck to Airbus, The New Saints, Newtown and Rhyl in the Welsh Cup Semi Finals over the weekend.
I’m sure that both victorious teams will certainly have a spring in their step next Monday morning.
By the way you weren’t dreaming – Wales did beat Israel 3-0..
.
Y GAIR OLAF gan Gwyn Derfel Wel am benwythnos !
Fel y gwyddom i gyd wrth gwrs, hawliwyd buddugoliaeth fythgofiadwy gan Gymru yn Israel dros y Sul ac mae
pawb yr wyf wedi eu cyfarfod ers y chwiban olaf yn gwenu fel gatiau. Llongyfarchiadau mawr i bawb sy’n
ymwneud gyda’r garfan genedlaethol a diolch am sicrhau bod fy uchelgais o weld Cymru’n cystadlu mewn
pencampwriaeth gam yn agosach at gael ei wireddu.
Yn ogystal ậ gwylio gêm Cymru ar y teledu – cefais bleser mawr o dystio gemau domestig dros y penwythnos
hefyd.
‘Roeddwn yn ffodus iawn i fod yn Stadiwm GenQuip nos Wener yn tystio PILCS yn ennill Cwpan Uwch Gynghrair
Merched Cymru. ‘Roedd safon y gêm yn erbyn Abertawe a’r ffaith bod 335 o bobl yn y dorf yn arwydd clir bod
camp y merched yn tyfu yma yng Nghymru.
Cymrodd Gap Cei Connah gam pendant tuag at warchod eu lle yn yr Uwch Gynghrair y tymor nesaf drwy guro’r
Rhyl yn Stadiwm Corbett Sports brynhawn Sadwrn. ‘Rwy’n cael mwynhad mawr o weld angerdd cefnogwyr Y
Rhyl – ond faswn i ddim wedi mwynhau bod yn un o’u chwaraewyr ar y chwiban olaf – gan bo’r cefnogwyr yn
bendant yn ddi-flewyn ar dafod.
Gwynt o fath gwahanol brofais i yn Aberystwyth brynhawn Sul ond er gwaetha’r elfennau chwaraeodd Airbus yn
gampus i gau’r bwlch ar Y Bala i driphwynt. Ydi mae’r ras am yr ail safle ‘na a lle yng Nghynghrair Europa yn
hynod o ddifyr.
Pob lwc i Airbus, Y Seintiau, Y Drenewydd a’r Rhyl ym mhedwar olaf Cwpan Cymru dros y penwythnos. Mae’r
ddwy ornest yn bendant yn tynnu dŵr i’r dannedd.
Gyda llaw – ‘doeddech chi ddim yn breuddwydio. Fe enillodd Cymru o 3-0 yn Israel !
