Wahooooo!!Wahooooo!!

This is what we’re going to make.

What types of lines can you

see?

Cross-Contour

• Cross contour lines are lines that explore the volume of an object. They create a “grid” that makes a flat shape look three-dimensional.

• They are lines that move around and across objects as well as through them.

Wrapped Up Animal Project

Step 1:

• Write your name and period on the BACK of your paper.

• With a RULER, draw a 1-INCH BORDER around your sheet of paper.

Step 2:

• Find a cool picture of an animal of your choice.

•Ms. Dean has some you can use or you can bring one from home.

•The picture should be at least as big as a sheet of paper.

Step 3:

Wrapped Up Animal Project

• Draw a very LIGHT contour drawing of your animal....

•I’m serious, you should draw very lightly.

•Your animal should take up ¾ of your paper.

Do you remember contour?

Contour

• Contour lines focus on the “outline” of objects.

• Contour lines are created by the edges of things.• Edges are perceived because the objects differ from the

backgrounds in value (lighter verses dark), texture or color.

• Contour lines also can describe interior detail

Step 4:

Wrapped Up Animal Project

• Start “wrapping” your animal portrait with cross contour line ribbons of varying lengths and widths.

•Keep working lightly, we’ll build up darker values later.

Step 5:

Wrapped Up Animal Project

• Build up values

•See how its darker between the ribbons

•Start “weaving”

•See how the ribbons go over and under each other.

Step 6:

Wrapped Up Animal Project

• Fill the eyes, teeth, nose, etc.

•If you have color pencils & want to bring them in, please do.

•You can add color to the tongue ribbons or make the eyes look realistic.
