4. Conduction of Program Preparations The exhibition display was set up before Sembawang Shopping Cente (SSC) opened its doors to the public. With opening of the mall the volunteers of UPS arrived, their volunteering was part of their corporate social responsibility program and annual community service day. After a short address by ECO Singapore's president Wilson Ang, the volunteers were briefed on their responsibilities for the day and fact sheets with information on different environmental topics were handed out to them. A quick dry run was conducted with all tour guide to let them know what to expect. Mall Tours The fact sheets covered the same topics as the exhibition booths and gave information on 'Energy', 'Food', 'Waste' and 'Water'. Included were several interesting facts and trivia for the guides to use throughout the tour. Each tour had four volunteers in charge, each of these volunteers covering one of the four stations. The first station at SSC was 'Food' and located at the Subway outlet. The main objective of this station was to inform the consumers about healthier and informed food choices. After some key facts were shared with the visitors a Subway representative took over from the tour guide and explained how Subway offers promotes healthy food choices. The second station of the tour was Home Fix and dealt with the topic 'Energy'. After sharing key facts on alternative energy sources an activity was conducted. The mall visitors had a few minutes time to find energy efficient products and their labelling throughout the store. A representative of Home Fix explained how to implement these into the household practically. Different energy saving products were featured and their use and instalment was highlighted. Then the group moved on to the panel that shows the energy production by photo voltaic cells on the mall's roof, also other 'green' features of the mall, such as LED light bulbs were mentioned. Station three was located at Body Shop and the guides shared information on 'Waste' with the visitors. Body Shop staff then explained how they try to reduce waste in their store and how their company's policy helps achieving that goal. Then group moved to the mall's food court were the group observed for a while and then discussed how waste during meals can be reduced. The objective of this station was to raise awareness were waste is generated and teach the methods of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
