An apple a day... Apples, such as this beauty, are a great snack. How many other fruits can you name that grow on trees?
Which ones do you like the best? Why?
All around us... Insects are everywhere. This one lives in a rain forest in Peru. Where did you last see an insect? What kind was
it? What was it doing?
Bare Bones This scientist is studying a dinosaur bone. Do you think it
would be exciting or boring (or both) to be a scientist who studies dinosaurs? Explain why.
Breakfast is served
An ostrich laid this mighty egg. What would you have to do to scramble it? List the steps involved in order.
My statue... Statues are often made of people who have done
important things. I f you could put up a statue to honor anybody you wanted, who would it be? Why?
Name Game I f this hedgehog were your pet, what would you name it? Give three reasons for the name you chose. Or tell about
a pet you named and why you chose that name.
Orange beauty... Write a letter to some pretend friends describing this butterfly. Tell them everything they need to know to

Boats and rivers, the two go together. What are some of the many ways in which rivers are useful to us?

its lifetime. Elephants sometimes use their tusks to battle each other in tests of strength. How do elephants use

Vacation time... Many people love to go to the beach. I f you could go
anywhere for your vacation where would it be? Would it be the beach, or would you go somewhere else?
Wolf in the wild... Wolf puppies look much like dog puppies. In what ways
are wolves like dogs? How are wolves and dogs different?
