Dreambox Live App

This manual will show you how to use Dreambox Live App and how to avoid faults.

What do you need / System Requirements:

iPhone 4 or above, iPad or above, iPod Touch 4th. Gen or above

iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch 3rd. Generation (low quality mode only)

iOS 4.0 (4.2 for iPad) or above

Stable WiFi-Connection between both devices with 802.11g or 802.11n (! 802.11n / WLAN-N strongly recommended !)

Original Dreambox or other device running Enigma 1 or Enigma 2

Latest Image (Enigma 1 or 2 Version) on your Set Top Box

Official supported Enigma 2 devices are:

Settings:

Basic Settings:

Type: Please choose your Enigma version of your Set Top Box. Host or IP-Address: Please enter the IP address of your Enigma Set Top Box. Label: Please enter a name of your configs to indicate your Enigma Set

Top Box later, this option is helpful, if you are using more than one Enigma Set Top Box.

Quality: This option is not an encoding setting, stream is taken 1:1 always!

High: Perfect image, but on price of speed and battery life. Middle: Fast camera movements causes minor image artifacts. Low: Fast and battery saving, but lower sharpness and smoothness.

Zap Mode: Only with Enigma 2 Set Top Boxes

Mirror: Always show the same channel on TV as on the App set. Singletuner: Don´t zap when the channels on TV and App are on same transponder. Multituner: Never zap without asking before. Activate this option when your Enigma 2 Set Top Box has got more than one tuner.

Force Audio Synchronization: Change toggle if stream is not lip-synchronously.

Where do I find the IP address of my Enigma Set Top Box?:

1. On remote of Set Top Box please press button “Dream” / “Menu” 2. Select “Setup”

3. Select “System” 4. Select “Network”

5. Select “Adapter Settings” 6. You should see the IP address in the upper right corner under “Current Settings”

Advanced Settings:

Username & Password: Set username and password when streaming or Web-Interface

authentication is activated. Default is no authentication, please leave fields blank.

Web-Interface-Port: The port of the Web-Interface. Default is port 80. Streaming-Port: The port of the video streaming. Default is port 8001.

Cache: The App preloads data to avoid a connection lost. You can increase this value in milliseconds for stabilizing the stream.

Main Screen of the App:

Core Features:

Channel Information: Here you see a short EPG of the watched channel. The progress bar shows the time left for the current show.

Press the info-Button (i) for viewing the full description (iPad only).

Show & Hide: You can toggle the interface visibility by tapping once on an empty

space on the screen. Also the interface hides after a few seconds by itself.

Fast Channel Switch: You can switch channels quickly within the current bouquet by

swiping with your finger from left to right or from right to left.

Zoom: You can zoom the video in landscape mode by pinching the fingers on the screen.

Audio & Subtitles: Here you can select a different audio channel and enable subtitles if available. Teletext subtitles may

only work, if the channel sends subtitles over the teletext actually.

Reload:

Resets and reconnects the current stream. This feature is also useful for correcting the aspect ratio after a program changes it dynamically.

Settings:

Shows the settings of the current Enigma Set Top Box.

Dreamboxes:

Easily switch between multiple Enigma Set Top Boxes. Press the “add” (+) button for configuring

another Enigma Set Top Box and the “edit” button for editing and deleting them.

Bouquets: Select a bouquet to see the channels in it. Tap on a channel in bouquet list for switching to it directly. You can change and edit bouquets and channels in your Enigma Set Top Box or with special tools as

Dreambox Edit.

Recordings:

If your Enigma Set Top Box has got an internal or external Hard Drive or do you have a NAS for recordings you can watch your recordings directly from the App.

You can edit the available recording pathes on your Enigma Set Top Box under “Menu => Settings => System => Recording Pathes => Default Movie Location”.

This feature is only available in newer versions of Enigma.

Trouble Shooting:

App crashes or still can´t connect:

Please check your configs if they match with system requirements. Old, modified or fault versions of Enigma and especially the Web-Interface can cause the App to crash. The

installation of a latest image should fix this problem.

You can find manuals to flash a new image / update your Enigma Set Top Box in the written manual or on the manufacturers homepage.

“Connection failed”:

Check, if the Enigma Web-Interface is activated and you get access to it. If you don´t know anything about Web-Interface, please open Safari Browser on your iDevice and fill in IP address of your dreambox. You should see the Web-Interface.

If you don´t get access to the Web-Interface, please mention, that only few VU+ images don´t have a Web-Interface in standard, you can download the Web-Interface as a plugin on your VU+. But for every Dreambox image the Web-Interface is standard and you should get access to it. If you don´t get access to it, you should check your WiFi Connection, network settings, username, password, ….

Make sure, that you entered the correct IP address, port and username/password in App settings.

Check, that your Enigma Set Top Box matches with system requirements, in most cases the reason for an error is a too old image. Please flash your Enigma Set Top Box with a latest image. Old images use wrongs pathes and structures, that´s why App crashed.

Check your WiFi connection, WLAN N (= 802.11n) is strongly recommended, if you have only 802.11g it might work with some problems. Disturbing sources might be DECT phones, bluetooth, radios, …

Make sure, that Enigma Set Top Box is powered on.

“Maybe all tuners are occupied”:

Make sure, that no other stream or program blocks your Enigma Set Top Box.

Please check, that no recording blocks your Enigma Set Top Box.

Please check, that no timer for recordings blocks your Enigma Set Top Box.

“Allowing zapping via Web-Interface” in Enigma Set Top Box Menu is activated

Recommended settings (Enigma 2) should be set. Please check in your Enigma Set Top Box Menu under: Menu => Extensions => Web Interface

Faults in Bouquets and Channels:

You have to use at least one or more bouquets.

Name of first bouquet should be “Favorites”.

First channel in first bouquet should be a Non-HD channel. HD = High Definition / SD = Standard Definition

Check that no channel or bouquet have an invalid character in names.

Fill in more SD channels to “Favorites” bouquet.

Every channel with HD content or characters “HD” in name is filtered out.

Don´t use downloaded settings, please start a manual scan after updating your Enigma Set Top Box and edit it manually. You can use special tools, e.g. Dreambox Edit.

“No Sound” or “No Volume available”:

Please switch on mute switcher on side of iDevice on.

Rotate iDevice to normal view, change settings for switcher on side of the Device in “Settings => General” to speaker function, restart Dreambox Live App. After restart you can change switcher in settings backwards without loosing audio in App.

“No Sound” when scrolling in channel list”:

This is the only bug of the App we know. Hopefully we will solve it in next update(s).

Bad or stuttering video (Freezers):

Make sure, that your config matches the system requirements.

Restarting Enigma Set Top Box:

Slower Enigma Set Top Boxes or Boxes with full RAM can be overwhelmed when different processes are running at same time. E.g. background recording.

I have more than one tuner but the App still zaps the channel:

Please activate “Multituner” zap mode in App settings.

The video has the wrong aspect ratio:

The App can´t recognize a dynamic aspect ratio change between 4:3 and 16:9. You can reset the aspect ratio by pressing the “reload” button.

Empty recording list:

Please check your path on hard disk:

/media/hdd/movies/

You can edit the available recording pathes on your Enigma Set Top Box under “Menu => Settings => System => Recording Pathes => Default Movie Location”.

This feature is only available in newer versions of Enigma.

Make sure, that your recordings are in standard definition and not in high definition

Different steps to avoid faults

Uninstall the App and reinstall it directly from AppStore (no more costs by same Apple-ID!).

Change Cache in App settings.

Please check your additional installed plugins, the App will have some problems with special plugins, e.g. InfoBarTunerState (Solution: Please set “Showstreams” in config of

InfoBarTunerStream to “no”).

Delete on your Enigma Set Top Box every empty bouquet.

If you get freezers of the stream your WiFi connection is not stable and too weak, please check network settings and try to change WiFi channel in router menu.
