FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MTS Rising Stars Concert showcases Manitobamusic students's talent
Winnipeg, Manitoba - May 13, 2014 -The WinnipegSymphony Orchestra (WSO) is proud to share thestage with Manitoba's brightest young musicaltalents in the MTS Rising Stars Concert onTuesday, May 13, 2014 at 7:30 pm at the CentennialConcert Hall. This year, the WSO partners with the ManitobaBand Association, the largest provincial bandassociation in Canada. The Junior Honour Band, theIntermediate Honour Band and the Senior HonourBand will be highlighted individually before theyperform alongside the WSO wind players in thisexciting program. Pieces by Dmitri Shostakovich,Frank Ticheli, Manitoban composer and bandteacher Kenley Kristofferson and many more arefeatured on the program. Flutist Heather Jonasson will perform the firstmovement of Carl Reinecke's Flute Concerto in DMajor with the WSO as a prizewinner at the 2014Lawrence Genser Scholarship Competition, and as
