Don’t miss Preserving Place, WSPD’s newest merchant, at this year’s Tinsel and Twine pop-up December 7th
and 14th from 11am to 4pm. They (and other really good WSPD retailers and vendors) will be on hand with
house-made goodies perfect for stuffing those stockings! Learn more at preservingplace.com.
PRESERVING PLACE
THE BEEF ON:
Let’s face it: Holiday shopping can leave
you hungry! Lucky for you, we have two
District favorites providing yummies at this
year’s Tinsel and Twine event. West Egg Café
will be setting up shop inside the Tinsel and
Twine pop-up, located at 1100 Howell Mill
Road, directly across from Yeah! Burger. Pas-
try Chef Chris Marconi will be selling all kinds
of baked goods, including nibbles to snack on
now as well as packaged treats that will make
excellent holiday gifts. And, if you wander
across our footbridge to JCT. Bar at 1198 How-
ell Mill Road, you’ll find JCT. Kitchen operat-
ing a complementary S’mores station, from 12-
2pm during the holiday caroling on December
7th and 14th.

Tinsel and Twine, WSPD’s marquis holi-
day event is curated each year by Seed
Factory’s Rachel Baba. Not only does Rachel
hand-pick the vendors who exhibit at the
event, but she also brings her own holiday flair
with a unique stocking bar stuffed with hand-
knit stocking, toys, gifts and other other good-
ies for kids of all ages.
You’ll also want to stop by the Seed Factory
shop this season, where Rachel and the gang
have decked the halls with Mommy must-
haves including clothes, furnishings, toys,
books, gifts and artisan-made crafts for the
holiday season and beyond. For more infor-
mation, visit seedfactoryatlanta.com.

REALLY GOOD
We had an absolute ball at our first-ever
district-wide “A Really Good Strut”
runway fashion show event last September.
A natural evolution of the Fashion’s Night Out
event that Ginna Gilbert has hosted for the
past few years, A Really Good Strut featured
fall looks and fabulous models from many
of the Distrct’s fashion boutiques including
Anthropologie, Billy Reid, Calypso St. Barth,
Dragonfly, Everything But Water, Free People,
G. Gilbert, Kayce Hughes, lululemon, and Ste-
ven Alan. With nibbles by District Restuarants,
complementary cocktails by Georgia Crown
and a VIP lounge experience by Lexus, the
event brought out a great crowd. Read all
about it at: westsidepd.com.

When Michael Phillips, C.O.O. of Jamestown and
Vice Chair of the James Beard Foundation Board
of Trustees, announced that he was planning to write a
cookbook, the entire Jamestown Creative & Marketing
team clamored with offerings of “research” services. I
personally had to come to terms with the idea of adding
yet another manual to a rapidly expanding collection in a
pint sized Manhattan kitchen. The just released Chelsea
Market Cookbook offers up a feast of archival images of
the market, gorgeous food photography, and entertaining
anecdotes from Chelsea Market chefs and friends whose
recipes grace its pages.
Also new on shelves this fall was Summerland, the iconic
Chef Anne Quatrano’s first cookbook. Named after her
family farm and stuffed with more than 100 of her best
recipes and entertaining ideas, Summerland makes
each month’s harvest a reason to celebrate. Drop by the
Westside Provisions District in Atlanta where Quatrano is
sure to be signing copies this winter.
These tastemakers have inspired me to squeeze back into
the kitchen and stock the
pantry. Just please keep
your fingers crossed that
Anne has shared her
recipe for lime cornmeal
cookies.
What’s Cooking?Man-about-town George Krauth dishes on the fashions, flavors, designs and décor he discovers as he travels the globe tracking trends as VP of Creative & Marketing for Jamestown.
Julie DewaldMeet Julie Dewald, globetrotter, philanthropist and passionate curator of interiors for WSPD’s Room and Board.
DISTRICT DISH
When Room & Board first came on the Atlanta scene
in 2009, it was a no-brainer for the home furnishings
leader to recruit Julie Dewald from her post at Bath & Body
Works. Dewald’s proclivity for “all things interiors” began at
a young age, at her family’s local furniture shop, where Julie
happily spent many afternoons.
Dewald brings heart to her work by applying her travel ex-
periences and passion for community activism to her client
relationships. Julie’s innate ability to see from a customer’s
perspective is credited to her own ongoing Room & Board
makeover in her own home; Dewald has an innate sense of
what makes something tasteful – local style.

TIME TO TWINE
Tinsel and Twine takes place all season at WSPD and
includes holiday caroling by UGA’s Noteworthy cho-

21, Boutique de Noël (a holiday decor pop-up by Le Jardin
Français), an array of book signings, trunks shows and other
special events, listed on our calendar at westsidepd.com/
events, and —best of all—our unique “Tinsel and Twine”
pop-up holiday marketplace, located at 1100 Howell Mill
Road, across from Yeah! Burger. This year’s Tinsel and Twine
vendors include:
• Seed Factory: serving up a unique stocking bar stuffed
with artisan gifts for kids of all ages.
• The Small Object: adorable rubber stamps and wood-
en wonders to mark a moment.
• Olaria Studio: Fun jewelry and functional uniquities for
home and personal flair, made of porcelain and stone-
ware clay
• The Cinnamon Bears: simple, sweet 14” tall rag dolls

• Lyonstate: Menswear shop offering a well-edited se-
lection of classic yet modern clothing and accessories.

At Tinsel and Twine, you’ll also find yummy treats for sale
from West Egg Café, free digital photos with Santa (grab
them from our Facebook page after the event), and comple-
mentary S’mores by JCT. Kitchen (near the bridge at 1198
Howell Mill Road.) It’s all happening December 7th and 14th
from 11am to 4pm! To learn more, visit westsidepd.com or
