Alberta’s province wide gas distribu on company ‐ ATCO Gas required the replacement of four dis‐similar radio communica ons networks with one universal province‐wide communica ons network for voice and data.
For worker safety the construc on and deployment required a seamless transi on from the exis ng systems into the replacement network.
Working with Hinz / Rockwell, the scope‐of‐work required the assessment of requirements and project risk; the development of a technical RFP, followed by the evalua on process to select the final vendor/contractor and assist with implementa on. Deployment took place in Q4 2011 to Q3 2012.

Rogers Pass Rocky Mountains
Responsibility: BD Manager / RF Consultant
Canadian Pacific Railway (CP Rail) undertook to “twin track” their railway right‐of‐way, through the Rocky Mountains of Bri sh Columbia. To achieve this goal, they constructed a 14.7 kilometer tunnel under Mount McDonald in the Rogers Pass of BC. A single pair of VHF frequencies was employed in a “first ever” Guard Tone Keying Network, using twin‐lead 600 ohm antenna cabling, in the tunnel, during the construc on phase.

In 2001 the Government of Alberta contracted to construct a satellite communications linked VHF / UHF radio network to provide Wildfire (forest fire suppression) communications. This was comprised of 91 mountaintop fire communications outposts within the province of Alberta, Canada.
The Scope-of-Work involved the design and development of an integrated communications systems and structures to be positioned in extreme environmental conditions.
All systems were linked into 13 Regional dispatch centers and one Provincial Command Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, which coordinates all ground and air resources.
