SewingSewing is a fun and practi-cal lifetime skill. With basic sewing skills you can create one-of-a-kind fashion and home decorating items. Individual in-struction for all levels. Beginners learn selecting fabric, reading a pattern, layout, cutting and stitching. If you have some sew-ing experience you may bring your own pattern or project. Pre-requisite: familiar with the basic operation of a sewing machine. If you have never used a ma-chine enroll in the “Know Your Sewing Machine” workshop held the week before this class. Art and Science of Fresh Water Fly FishingThis class will cover all aspects of fresh-water fl y-fi shing start-ing with the basic equipment needed, fi shing etiquette and safety, types of rods, lines and fl ies that are available and how to use them. Using their own equipment, students will learn casting methods and how to mend. Other covered topics will include: how to select the ap-propriate equipment for various conditions, how to think like a fi sh, how fi sh live and eat, how to read a river, choosing the proper fl ies, places to fi sh in CT and CT rules and regulations. The instructor has been a CT fl y fi sher for over 40 years and has fi shed many of the West’s Blue Ribbon Waters. Students will need to have their own rods, reels, lines and leaders by the third class. Those that do not already have the equipment are encouraged to wait until after the fi rst class to purchase equipment

Students that do not already have basic fl y-tying equipment are urged not to purchase it until after the fi rst class.
