How to Set

Push the knob in and turn in either

direction to the setting )ou want.

At both OFF and HI the control clicks

into position. Ym may hear slight

power level you set.

The control must be pushed in to setonly fl'om the OFFposition. _]_en the

control is in any position other than OFF,,it may be rotated without i)ushing it in.

If boiling water; fi)r more efficient use,turn the knob to HI to bring it to a boilthstex: _Mier the water has come to a boil,

reduce the knob setting to medium-high.The heat will still be great enough to

maintain a boil, but you will be using less

An indicator light will glow when anysurtilce unit is on.

Be sure xou turn the control knob to OFF

when you finish cooking.

Surface Cookware Tips

Use medium- or hea\y-weight cookware.Muminum cookware conducts heat tipster

than other metals. Cast-iron and coamdcast-iron cookware are slow to [ibsorb

heat, but generally cook evenly at low tomedium heat settings. Steel pans maycook unevenly if not combined withother metals.

For best cooking results, pans should befiat on the bottom. Match the size of the

saucei)an to the size of the stu]i_ce unit.The pan should not extend over the

edge ot the stu_hce unit more than1 inch.

Use only flat-bottomed woks.

Wok Cooking

Werecommendthat youuseonly a flat-bottomedwok Theyare available at your local retail store.

Do not rise wo]_; that have SUl)port rings.lJse ot these t)pes ot woes, with or

without the ring in place, can bedangerotls.

Pladng the ring over the stmfi_ce unit willcause a build-u I) of heat that will damage

the porcelain cooktop. Do not try to usesuch woks without the ring. _A)u could be

How to Remove Packaging Tape

To assure no damage is done to the finish_ffthe product, the safest way to remove

the adhesive left fi'om packaging tape on

new appliances is an application of ahousehold liquid dishwashing detergent,

mineral oil or cooking oil.

Apply with a st,it clofl_ and allow to soak._._]pe dry and then apply an appliance

polish to thorotlghly clean and protectthe sm'ti_ce.

NOTE: Theplastl? tape must be removedfromallchrome trim. It cannotbe removedif it/s baked on.

Glass Control Panel

Theglasscontrolpanelonyourcooktophasbeentemperedto withstandsuddentemperaturechangesduringcooking.Giveit thenormalcareyouwouldgiveanyglassmaterial

If the glass is hot, wipe up spills with a dry

Clear groove

Control Knobs

Thecontrolknobsmayberemovedforeasiercleaning.

Before removing the knobs fl_rcleaning, please note that the knobs

are in the OFFposition. Whenreplacing the knobs, check the OFF

position to insure proper placement.

The knob has a groove in each side. Thegroove on one side has a spring clip. Theother groove is clea_: (:heck the inside otthe knob and find the molded rib.

X'_ash knobs in soap and water but do not

soak. Avoid getting water down into the

knob stem holes.

Replace the knob by fitting the molded

rib inside the knob into the clear grooveon the stem.

Stainless Steel Cooktop (onsomemodels)

Do not use a steel-wool pad; it willscratch the surface.

To clean the stainless steel surtace,

use a hot, damp cloth with a mild

detergent suitable tot stainless steel

surtaces. Use a clean, hot, dampcloth to remove soap. Dry with a

(lr 5 clean cloth.

If food soil remains, try a generalkitchen cleane_; such as Fantastik _,

Simple Green _,or Formula 409L

For hard-to-clean soil, use astandard stainless steel cleane_;such as Bon-Ami or Cameo "_'.

Apply cleaner with a damp sponge.Use a clean, hot, damp cloth to

remove cleaner. Dry with a dry,clean cloth. Always scrub lightly

in the direction of the grain.

After cleaning, use a stainless steel

polish, such as Stainless Steel Magic '_,Revere Col)per and Stainless SteelCleanei_=; or X_'enol All PurI)ose

Metal Polish ", Follow the product

Porcelain Enamel Cooktop (onsomemodels)

Theporce/albenamelfb/sh is sturdybutbreakableif misused

This finish is acid-resistant. However; any

acidic leeds spilled (Stlch as fl'uitjuices,tomato or vinegar) should not be

pemfitted to remain on the finish.

If acids spill on the cooktop while it ishot, use a (h T pal)er towel or cloth towipe it u l) right awa> \._]_en the surli_cehas cooled, wash with soap and wam_:Rinse well.

For other spills such as tilt spatterings,wash with soap and water or cleansingpowde_ atter the surfi_ce has cooled.Rinse well. Polish with a d_wcloth.

Metal Parts

Do not use steel wool, abrasives,all/illonia oi" Coi//illei'cial oven cleanei_.

To sately clean surlhces; wash, rinse andthen dry with a sott cloth.

Lift the surface unit about I inchabove the drip pan and pull it out.

Surface Units

To clean tile sur[i_ce units, turn tile

control to tile highest setting t0r aminute. Tile coils will burn off any soil.

Toremove a surface unit:

To remoxe tile drip pans flw cleaning,tile stlrtilce milts mtlst be remoxed fi_t.

Lift tile surfi_ce unit about 1 inch above

tile drip pan and pull it out.Do not lift tile surtilce unit more than l

inch. If x_m do, it may not lie fiat on thedrip pan when you i)lug it back in.

Repeated lifting ot tile SUltilce unit morethan 1 inch above tile drip pan canpemmnently damage the receptacle.

Toreplace a surface unit:

Replace tile drip pan into tile recess intile cooktop. Make sure tile opening inthe pan lines up with the receptacle.

Insert tile temfinals ot tile smthce refit

through tile opening in tile dil I) pan andinto tile receptacle.

Guide the smti_ce refit into place so itrests evenlY.

Do not immerse the surfaceunits in liquids ofanykbd

Do not dean the surfaceunits in a dishwasher

Do not bend the surface unit p/ug terminals.

Do not attempt to dean, adjust or in any wayrepair the plug@ receptacle.

Drippan

Drip Pans

Remove tile surli_ce milts. Then lift out

tile drip pans.

Clean tile drip pans by hand with wmm,soapy water

To relnove bm'ned-on foods, soak theln

in hot, soapy water for several hom_.Then scrub with a soap-filled plasticscouting pad if necessary:

Rinse with clean water and polish with aclean soft cloth.

Tile drip pans max also be cleaned in adishwasher.

Lift-Up Cooktop

Toraise the cooktop:

Secure tile tub of the cooktop to a standard cotmter withthe wood screws shiI)ped with the cooktop.

Secure the tub of the cooktop to a tile cotmter with4 masom_ screws. These can be pro'chased at anyhardware store.

[] MAKE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

WARNINGThe electrical power to the cooktop sui)ply line must beshut off while line connections are being made. Failm'e todo so could restflt in serious iqjm T or death.

When making the wire cmmecdons, use the entire lengthot conduit provided (3 teet). The conduit must not be cut.

C{mnect the red and black leads fl'om the cooktopconduit to the conesponding leads in tlmjtmcfion box.

The power leads sui)plied with this appliance are UI.recognized fin" comlecdon to linger gauge householdwiring. The insulation ot the leads is rated at much highertemperatures than the temperatm'e rating of householdwiring. The current cari_'ing capaciD' ot the conductor isgoverned by the wire gauge and also the temperatm'erating of the insulation aromld the wire.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

Tile bare grotmd wire in the conduit is connected to thecooktop tl"aIlle.

X_]len cmmecting to a 3 conductor branch circuit, if localcodes pemfit, connect the bare grotmd connector leadof the cooktop to the branch drcuit neutral (gray or whitein color).

If used in new construction afterJanuary 1, 1996, in a mobile home or recreationalvehicle, or if local codes do not permit groundingthrough the neutral white lead, do the following:
