Throughout this manual, features and appearance may vary from your model.
How to Set
Push the knob in and turn in either
direction to the setting )ou want.
At both OFF and HI the control clicks
into position. Ym may hear slight

power level you set.
The control must be pushed in to setonly fl'om the OFFposition. _]_en the
control is in any position other than OFF,,it may be rotated without i)ushing it in.
If boiling water; fi)r more efficient use,turn the knob to HI to bring it to a boilthstex: _Mier the water has come to a boil,
reduce the knob setting to medium-high.The heat will still be great enough to
maintain a boil, but you will be using less

Surface Cookware Tips
Use medium- or hea\y-weight cookware.Muminum cookware conducts heat tipster
than other metals. Cast-iron and coamdcast-iron cookware are slow to [ibsorb
heat, but generally cook evenly at low tomedium heat settings. Steel pans maycook unevenly if not combined withother metals.
For best cooking results, pans should befiat on the bottom. Match the size of the
saucei)an to the size of the stu]i_ce unit.The pan should not extend over the
edge ot the stu_hce unit more than1 inch.
Use only flat-bottomed woks.
Wok Cooking
Werecommendthat youuseonly a flat-bottomedwok Theyare available at your local retail store.
Do not rise wo]_; that have SUl)port rings.lJse ot these t)pes ot woes, with or
without the ring in place, can bedangerotls.
Pladng the ring over the stmfi_ce unit willcause a build-u I) of heat that will damage

How to Remove Packaging Tape
To assure no damage is done to the finish_ffthe product, the safest way to remove
the adhesive left fi'om packaging tape on
new appliances is an application of ahousehold liquid dishwashing detergent,
mineral oil or cooking oil.
Apply with a st,it clofl_ and allow to soak._._]pe dry and then apply an appliance
polish to thorotlghly clean and protectthe sm'ti_ce.
NOTE: Theplastl? tape must be removedfromallchrome trim. It cannotbe removedif it/s baked on.
Glass Control Panel

Clear groove
Control Knobs
Thecontrolknobsmayberemovedforeasiercleaning.
Before removing the knobs fl_rcleaning, please note that the knobs
are in the OFFposition. Whenreplacing the knobs, check the OFF
position to insure proper placement.
The knob has a groove in each side. Thegroove on one side has a spring clip. Theother groove is clea_: (:heck the inside otthe knob and find the molded rib.
X'_ash knobs in soap and water but do not
soak. Avoid getting water down into the
knob stem holes.
Replace the knob by fitting the molded
rib inside the knob into the clear grooveon the stem.
Stainless Steel Cooktop (onsomemodels)
Do not use a steel-wool pad; it willscratch the surface.
To clean the stainless steel surtace,
use a hot, damp cloth with a mild
detergent suitable tot stainless steel
surtaces. Use a clean, hot, dampcloth to remove soap. Dry with a
(lr 5 clean cloth.
If food soil remains, try a generalkitchen cleane_; such as Fantastik _,
Simple Green _,or Formula 409L
For hard-to-clean soil, use astandard stainless steel cleane_;such as Bon-Ami or Cameo "_'.
Apply cleaner with a damp sponge.Use a clean, hot, damp cloth to
remove cleaner. Dry with a dry,clean cloth. Always scrub lightly
in the direction of the grain.
After cleaning, use a stainless steel
polish, such as Stainless Steel Magic '_,Revere Col)per and Stainless SteelCleanei_=; or X_'enol All PurI)ose
Metal Polish ", Follow the product

Porcelain Enamel Cooktop (onsomemodels)

This finish is acid-resistant. However; any
acidic leeds spilled (Stlch as fl'uitjuices,tomato or vinegar) should not be
pemfitted to remain on the finish.
If acids spill on the cooktop while it ishot, use a (h T pal)er towel or cloth towipe it u l) right awa> \._]_en the surli_cehas cooled, wash with soap and wam_:Rinse well.

Surface Units

Lift tile surfi_ce unit about 1 inch above

Toreplace a surface unit:
Replace tile drip pan into tile recess intile cooktop. Make sure tile opening inthe pan lines up with the receptacle.

The power leads sui)plied with this appliance are UI.recognized fin" comlecdon to linger gauge householdwiring. The insulation ot the leads is rated at much highertemperatures than the temperatm'e rating of householdwiring. GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
