2. A crime is an act which a government or other authority has declared it to be against the law.

3. A crime is a conduct or action, event prohibited by law

► The offender may be prosecuted by the state by any other legally empowered authority, or in some cases by a private individual

► Judgement and sentencing are carried out by a court of law
