What is Culinary Arts

TRANSCRIPT

Culinary Arts is an art of the preparation and cooking of foods. The word "culinary" is defined as something related to, or connected with, cooking. A culinary artist or culinarian is a person working in the culinary arts. A culinarian working in restaurants is commonly known as a cook or a chef. Culinarians are responsible for skillfully preparing meals that are as pleasing to the palate as to the eye. They are required to have a knowledge of the science of food and an understanding of diet and nutrition. They work primarily in restaurants, delis, hospitals and other institutions. Kitchen conditions vary depending on the type of business, restaurant, nursing home, etc. The Table arts or the art of having food can also be called as "Culinary arts".Contents [hide] 1 Careers in Culinary Arts1.1 Related careers2 Occupational outlook2.1 United Kingdom2.2 United States3 Notable culinary colleges around the world3.1 Africa3.2 Asia3.3 Europe3.4 America3.4.1 Latin America & Caribbean3.4.2 North America3.5 Oceania3.6 Other4 See also5 Notes6 References7 Further reading8 External linksCareers in Culinary Arts[edit]Related careers[edit]Below is a list of the wide variety of culinary arts occupations.Consulting and Design Specialists Work with restaurant owners in developing menus, the layout and design of dining rooms, and service protocols.Restaurant management Manage a restaurant, cafeteria, hotel dining area, etc.Food and Beverage Controller Purchase and source ingredients in large hotels as well as manage the stores and stock control.Entrepreneurship Deepen and invest in businesses, such as bakeries, restaurants, or specialty foods (such as chocolates, cheese, etc.).Food and Beverage Managers Manage all food and beverage outlets in hotels and other large establishments.Food Stylists and Photographers Work with magazines, books, catalogs and other media to make food visually appealing.Food Writers and Food Critics Communicate with the public on food trends, chefs and restaurants though newspapers, magazines, blogs, and books.
