Position of organisations
National Fire Service Association (NVBR)
Did not pay attention to the subject until the Delft burn test and video in July 2008. Since the TV show of January 2010, shows strong support for fire safe upholstered furniture; pushes media coverage and attracts the attention of the government.

Position of organisations
Ministries of Interior, Housing and Health
All three ministries see the benefits and needs for fire safe upholstered furniture, but do not want to follow any policy other than the EC one regarding flame retardants. The ministry of Interior is the coordinator of this topic for the three ministries.

Position of organisations
National Furniture Association (CBM)
They claimed to work on three tracks; first movers (furniture manufacturers), dialogue with chemical branch about alternatives, pressure on the government on regulations for fire safe upholstered furniture.

Position of organisations
National Employers Association (VNO-NCW)
A new but very powerful and therefore important player in this field who is very keen on cost-benefit analyses for fire safety measurements such as domestic sprinklers, smoke detectors and upholstered furniture. A dialogue with them is now starting.

Position of organisations
Greenpeace
Greenpeace stated that they are not against flame retardants in general, but only against some flame retardants. They stated that flame retardants in upholstered furniture is important for fire safety
