Disabled Students Allowance (DSA)
Proposed changes to DSA policy:
• Broad rationale is to target the limited resource available to those students in most need of it
• Current system of DSA support has not been reviewed since 1995 and doesn’t take into account technological advances, increases in the use of technology or the introduction of the Equality Act 2010
DISABLED STUDENTS ALLOWANCE
2015/16
DSA funding will no longer be provided for:
• Entry Level computers (used only for web browsing, word processing, spreadsheets and the least technically demanding software)
• Higher specification or higher cost computers where they are required solely due to the way in which the course is delivered
DSA funding will be provided for:
• Additional costs of a higher spec than entry level computer (£200)
• Complex Non Medical Helper Support
