MarTEL Project• The first MarTEL Project (2007 – 2009) created a set of Maritime
English tests with study guidelines for seafarers.
• Phase 1 – Cadet Level• Phase 2 – Officer Level (Deck and Engineering)• Phase 3 – Senior Officer Level (Deck and Engineering)
At Phase 2 and 3 levels, there are separate tests and study guidelines for Deck and Engineering Officers

New Funding Awarded• In October 2010, the MarTEL Plus project was
awarded funding by the European Union.• The MarTEL Plus project will build upon the
successfully concluded MarTEL project with a range of new features and functionalities.
• The project will run for a period of two years.
