Founded in Le Locle, Switzerland in 1846, the Ulysse Nardin Chronometer Co. has made a name for itself in the realm of precision time measurement, producing some of the finest chronometers and observation watches seen. At the 1862 London exhibition Ulysse Nardin was awarded the Prize Medal and, in 1893, the firm was given the honor of representing all of Switzerland at the Chicago World Exposition.
One of its first large-scale customers was the Russian war ministry in St. Petersburg, and from 1906 the American Naval Observatory also numbered among Ulysse Nardin's clients. The factory was awarded 4,300 observatory distinctions for these high- precision timepieces alone. This is a firm with a long and proud history, still thriving today with timepieces costing in the tens of thousands of dollars.
I am very pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from the firm, an original 10kt Yellow Gold filled Tank style model that dates to early 1950s. This American market Ulysse Nardin watch is in excellent condition, complete with fancy lugs and rounded corners…my photos do not do it justice.
Triple-signed, it measures 40mm end to end and 25.4mm in width (27.2mm with crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-5/8 inches long by 1 inch wide, not including the winding crown. Its original and high- grade Ulysse Nardin mechanism (gold finished, manual wind) has been recently serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.

The factory was awarded 4,300 observatory distinctions for these high-precision timepieces alone.
Its original and high-grade Ulysse Nardin mechanism (gold finished, manual wind) has been recently serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, just as I purchased the watch and possibly restored in the past. It features applied solid 18k yellow gold Arabic numbers, a 60 minute outer chapter, original gold metal Lance-style hands and a detailed sub-seconds dial (cushion form, like the case) with ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed ULYSSE NARDIN CHRONOMETER CO. below the 12.
The solid glass crystal is in excellent, as new condition. The two-piece 10 Karat Yellow Gold Filled case is in excellent condition, absolutely no wear whatsoever and shining nicely. This is a “natural” yellow gold color – not a glaringly bright yellow like some of today’s watches. Note the fancy lugs, very crisp. The original winding crown (correctly unmarked), is a matching gold finish and in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent order, stamped 10K Gold Filled at the edge. In the center are the initials FTS, lightly engraved in Art Deco style. Peeking inside I find a

clean and high quality manual wind movement that is stamped ULYSSE NARDIN CHRONOMETER CO., SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS, SWISS – ADJUSTED TEMPERATURE, BXP. The serial number is #569,391. The inside of the case lid is clearly stamped with the firm’s official logo and signed ULYSSE NARDIN NEW YORK, 321,880.
This fine timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets very smoothly and keeps accurate time. It is fitted on a new16mm black deBeer handcrafted lizard grain calf leather strap with matching gold (finished) buckle. I have always liked watches from this firm but rarely find them for sale. In fact, this is just my second Nardin wristwatch I’ve had for sale in 10 years. Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848, is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of Omega for the first time, and since then it has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is my favorite Swiss watch firm as well, combining those qualities of name brand recognition, high quality and relative value that are important to the seasoned watch collector.
Omega strongly reaffirmed its position as a collector’s brand in 2007 when Antiquorum held its Omegamania sale in Geneva, Switzerland. The prices realized vastly exceeded pre-auction estimates and set new records for many older models. Good vintage Omega watches are only going UP in value.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men's Omega timepiece, an automatic wind Seamaster Calendar model (Ref. 2849 SC) that dates to early 1958. This watch is in excellent PLUS condition, featuring a 14kt Solid Yellow Gold Omega Swiss case and a high-grade 503 caliber, 20 jewel original mechanism.
Quadruple-signed, it measures 42.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 34.5mm in width (37mm with original Omega-signed gold notched winding crown). This works out to be just over 1-11/16 inches long by just shy of 1-3/8 inches wide, not counting the original crown. It is powered by its original and high quality Omega 503 caliber rotor automatic mechanism featuring Twenty 20 Jewels. It has been fully serviced by my watchmaker David just last week to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. The silver, enamel finished dial has been professionally restored to its correct status and is in excellent condition with no

flaws. This is the original Omega factory dial that has been re-enameled and detailed. Features include a 60 second outer chapter, applied solid 18kt Yellow gold numbers and arrow-shaped hour markers, a semi-quickset DATE window at the 3 position and original gold metal Dauphine-style hands with luminous green fill and a ‘sweep’ original gold center seconds hand. Signed OMEGA AUTOMATIC with applied gold Omega symbol below the 12 and Seamaster Calendar above the 6. It is further signed SWISS MADE at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic armored crystal is in excellent, clear condition with no flaws. The three-piece case is 14 KARAT SOLID YELLOW GOLD and is in excellent to MINT shape with no wear whatsoever, NICER than my photos show. This is a good weight, beefy, solid gold case, very solid. The original yellow gold winding crown, notched in design, is signed with the Omega symbol and in excellent order, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the vacuum seal, snap down lid is in excellent – mint condition with absolutely no wear or engravings, past or present. There are two Swiss gold hallmarks stamped into two of the lugs – one on each side. Inside I find a rose gold finished self-winding mechanism that is signed Omega Watch Co., Swiss – Twenty 20 Jewels - [Caliber] 503, OXG. The serial number of #15,590,179 dates the watch to circa early 1958 as per available Omega production records. The inside of the case is signed DICHTUNG IM BODEN EINSETZEN - LOGER JOINT DANS FOND - OMEGA WATCH CO., FAB. SUISSE, SWISS MADE, 352, 14K 0.585 [Squirrel Hallmark], 2849 SC - FIT WASHER IN BACK –PONGA JUNTA EN EL FONDO. There is indeed a rubber O-Ring washer in the back and 14K 0.585 is Swiss stamp for 14ct

Solid Gold. The watch model number or ref. number is 2849-SC.
This watch has been fully serviced (disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated) so you can be assured that it winds and sets smoothly while keeping very accurate time. It comes fitted on new and high quality 18mm black deBeer Paris crocodile (grain) calf leather band with matching gold finished buckle. Whether it be a Seamaster or Constellation all watch lovers need to have at least one Omega in their collection. If you have started with this beauty you have set the bar very HIGH for your next purchase – these solid gold Seamasters are fairly rare, the “Seamaster Calendar” models in solid 14k gold extremely scarce, this being just the second I have had in the past 20 years.

Since 1998,

My favorite among favorite U.S. watch firms is the Elgin National Watch Company, a prolific firm established in 1864 on 35 acres of land donated by the City of Chicago in Elgin, Illinois. It was a strategic location, right next to the Galena and Chicago Union Railroad, one of the busiest railways into Chicago. By 1867 the first watch was marketed for sale, retailing for $115 (think of that in today’s prices!)

Page 8: holben/Descriptions/November 4, 20… · Web viewFounded in Le Locle, Switzerland in 1846, the Ulysse Nardin Chronometer Co. has made a name for itself in the

and Elgin was soon competing head-on with its chief competitor, Waltham, which (ironically) was instrumental in forming Elgin, as two of the original organizers were P.S. Bartlett and D.G. Currier of Waltham fame.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from the Elgin firm, a 14kt Solid Yellow Gold Tank form model that dates to 1940. This is a top-of-the-line LORD ELGIN model, the firm’s very best, and its condition is excellent to mint.
Triple-signed, it measures 34mm end to end and 24mm in width (25.3mm with original winding crown). In inches this works out to be just shy of 1-3/8” long by 1” wide, including the crown. My trusted watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 21 jewel, manual wind 559 grade mechanism and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The black enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its correct status. It features a 60 minute outer track border, raised gold Arabic numerals, Leaf-style gold metal hands and a separate seconds dial with ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed LORD ELGIN below the 12 with a STAR below this.
The solid glass crystal is excellent, clear condition, removed in some photos to best show the dial without glare. The case is Solid 14 Karat Yellow Gold and stepped between the curved down lugs. It is in excellent PLUS order – spotless. The original winding crown (correct unsigned) is yellow gold finished and in excellent condition, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent PLUS shape, stamped 14K GOLD at one edge with the Wadsworth Case Co. “W” as well. This case has never been engraved and is pristine.
Inside I find a high grade Twenty One Jewel (15/0 Size) manual wind movement signed Elgin [Grade] 559 – USA, 21 Jewels with serial number X680,806, dating this watch to 1940 as per company production records. The inside of the case back is stamped Cased and Timed by Elgin National Watch Co., 14K GOLD - Wadsworth, with case number below.
This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 17mm black alligator (grain) calf leather strap with matching gold (finished) buckle. All in all a stellar late Art Deco solid 14k gold Elgin Tank model watch – the only thing it needs is an appreciative wrist!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded in 1892, the Hamilton Watch Company of Lancaster, PA would not officially start producing watches until 1894. Its first chosen name was the “Columbian Watch Co.” but this had already been copyrighted by the Waterbury Company. The name Hamilton was then chosen - a tribute to Lancaster’s founding father, Mr. Andrew Hamilton, a Scottish-born attorney who was instrumental in the town’s

growth.
By 1908 Hamilton was producing a lady’s pendant (convertible) watch and, following the USA’s entry into WWI, a small line of military style wire lug trench watches were available for men. Hamilton never looked back, arguably producing the highest quality American made watches from the 1920s through the 1960s.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following TOWNSEND model from the Hamilton firm, a Retro Modern, faceted Tank form timepiece that was first introduced in 1954, when this watch was also made in retailed. This 10kt Yellow Gold filled wristwatch is in excellent condition, its pristine butler finish dial featuring 18k solid gold applied hour markers.
Triple-signed, it measures 38mm end to end and 24.7mm in width (26.5mm with unmarked gold winding crown). This works out to be just over 1-1/2 inches in length by 1 inch wide, not including the crown. It is powered by its original 19 jewel, 753 grade manual wind USA made mechanism that has been fully serviced by my watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The butler enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, featuring applied 18kt Solid Gold hour markers, original gold metal Lance-style hands and a cross-hair sub-seconds dial with sweep original gold seconds hand. Signed HAMILTON below the 12.
The curved acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The two-piece 10 Karat Yellow Gold filled case is in excellent to MINT condition, truly nicer than my photos capture (its faceted and curved case was a BEAR to photograph). The matching gold finish winding crown is not marked but possibly the original (Hamilton signed crowns were not standard until the mid to late 1950s). It is in excellent order and winds and sets smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent PLUS condition, absolutely no wear or engravings. It is stamped 10K Gold Filled at the edge. Inside I find a clean Nineteen jewel movement with vertical Geneva striping stamped Hamilton – USA – 19 Jewels – [Grade] 753 with serial number13,218F. The inside case lid is signed TOWNSEND, HAMILTON WATCH CO., LANCASTER, PA – 10K GOLD FILLED, D&A with case number as well. The firm that made this case for Hamilton was DiVincenzo & Arienti, based in Brooklyn, NY. They made few cases for Hamilton and were better known for producing cases for American market Omega models.
This fine Hammy has been completely disassembled, cleaned,

oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted on a new and high quality 17mm black deBeer Paris handcrafted lizard (grain) calf leather strap with matching gold finished buckle, ready to wear and enjoy. I’ve always loved Bulova, an American company of great repute. It was founded by Czech immigrant Joseph Bulova and based in New York City, where the famous Bulova Observatory was located, high above a skyscraper on Fifth Avenue. Like Gruen, it also had a factory in (Bienne) Switzerland, established in 1912 and dedicated to the production of watch components and their assembly into jeweled movements. The firm is known for its aggressive advertising campaigns and for being the first to advertise on radio – with an announcer stating “B – U – L – O – V – A … 8:00 pm, Bulova Watch Time.”
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage, self-winding timepiece from the Bulova firm, a men’s 23 Jewel automatic wind model with an original black enamel dial that dates to 1964. This stainless steel watch, made completely in the United States, is in excellent, original condition and is mid-century, Retro Modern in design.
Triple-signed, it measures 39mm lug tip to lug tip and 31mm in width (33mm including the original, unmarked crown). In inches this works out to be just over 1-1/2” long by just shy of 1-1/4” wide, not including the winding crown. Its original Twenty Three Jewel rotor automatic mechanism has been fully serviced by my Bulova-trained watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original black enamel finished dial is in excellent condition – untouched since it left the factory half a century ago. It features raised silver hour markers and numbers, a 60 second outer track border, original steel hands and “sweep” center seconds hand. Signed BULOVA 23 JEWELS below the 12 and SELFWINDING above the 6.
The domed acrylic crystal is in excellent condition, a new addition (the original was also acrylic). The Bulova-signed two-piece case (with separate screw-down ring) is Solid Stainless Steel and in excellent shape, complete with sculptural lugs. The original (correctly unmarked) steel winding crown in excellent order and operates smoothly.

Turning the watch over I see that the snap down back lid is in very fine to great overall shape, a few small dings only but with no wear or personal engravings. It is stamped Bulova M4 – Stainless Steel Case, Shock Resistant, Antimagnetic, Self-Winding with case number G841,965. The M4 stamp is the firm’s date code for 1964.
Inside I find a clean and fully serviced rotor automatic, self-winding mechanism signed BULOVA USA – 23 JEWELS, 10BZAC – M4. Note how the date codes for the case and movement match, albeit they were often 1 year apart as well.
This cleaned, oiled and regulated watch winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. I have added a new 17mm black deBeer Europa handcrafted alligator (grain) calf leather band with matching steel buckle. All in all a truly original, Retro Modern timepiece with one of the very few high-grade American-made automatic wind mechanisms ever made.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. In its glory years from the 1920s through the 1940s, the Gruen Watch Company of USA & Switzerland was one of the leaders in wristwatch design and quality, even collaborating with Rolex (i.e., the Aegler movement duo-dial doctor’s watch) from its factories in Switzerland. Prior to WWII, Gruen was better known in the USA than Rolex, which at that time was concentrating on the British and Commonwealth countries (hence lots of early Rolexes coming out of Australia and the UK). Hans Wilsdorf and Gruen were friends and neighbors in Switzerland (their factories were just yards away), and even agreed to market their watches as Rolex Gruen in Europe, but the Great Depression (and more urgent matters) prevented this.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following CURVEX model from Gruen, a late 1940s Tank form model with notched and curved case in 14kt Solid Yellow Gold. This Precision model is in excellent condition, signed Gruen on the dial, case (twice) and Curvex mechanism.
It measures 35mm lug tip to lug tip and 22mm in width (24mm with unmarked, gold winding crown). In inches this works out to be 1-3/8” by 7/8” not including the crown, a smaller men’s model ideal for the gent who prefers a smaller watch or for a woman who wants a larger size vintage Gruen. Its original 440 caliber Curvex mechanism has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its original status and nicely done. It features raised gold arrow-shaped hour markers, Arabic numbers, a 60 minute outer track border, original gold metal Leaf style hands and a separate seconds dial with 60 second outer

chapter and sweep gold seconds hand. Signed GRUEN CURVEX below the 12 and PRECISION above the seconds dial. It is further signed SWITZERLAND at the base of the dial, partially concealed by the bezel.
The new old stock solid glass crystal is in mint condition. The two-piece case is 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent PLUS shape, notched below the 12 and above the 6 and featuring curved sides and curled down lugs. The style is late Art Deco Streamline Moderne. The yellow gold-finished crown is in excellent condition and operates smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent PLUS shape and free of any wear and tastefully signed “Mother & Dad, June 1949” – a graduation gift I would presume. It is also signed GRUEN 14K GOLD, WBO along the edge with case number U10,696.
Inside I find a barrel-shaped Curved movement, signed Gruen Watch Co., Precision – Seventeen 17 Jewels, Curvex Precision Patented, [Caliber] 440, Switzerland, GXC. The inside of the case is signed Cased and Timed in USA by Gruen Watch Co., 14K Gold, WBO. The WBO initials stand for the William B. Ogush Watch Case Company, formerly Katz & Ogush (K&O). Both firms provided countless cases for Gruen from the late 1930s to around 1950.
This Curvex has been cleaned, oiled & regulated so it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted with a new 18mm black deBeer Paris ostrich (grain) calf leather strap with gold finished buckle, ready to be worn. As I’ve said before, owning a vintage Gruen Curvex means you get to enjoy wearing a timepiece that will continually go up in value…much like a collector’s car. No 20% depreciation driving this watch off the lot!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I treat buyers as I like to be treated: with courtesy and respect. Andrew Hamilton, a Scottish-born attorney who was instrumental in the town’s growth.
By 1908 Hamilton was producing a lady’s pendant (convertible) watch and, following the USA’s entry into WWI, a small line of military style wire lug trench watches were available for men. Hamilton never looked back, arguably producing the highest quality American made watches from the 1920s through the 1960s.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following excellent and ALL ORIGINAL model from the company, a DRUMMOND model that dates to ca 1959. Like the Townsend Hamilton I also have up for sale this week, this is the first “Drummond” model I’ve ever had and it couldn’t be in nicer original shape – only

the deBeer alligator grain band is new.
Quadruple-signed, it measures 38mm end to end and 25.5mm in width (28mm with original Hamilton gold winding crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches in length by 1 inch wide, not including the crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, 730 grade manual wind USA made mechanism that has been fully serviced prior to auction, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original, butler enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, guaranteed untouched since it left the factory over half a century ago. It features 18kt Solid Gold Arabic numbers, original gold metal Lance-style hands and a cross-hair sub-seconds dial with sweep original gold seconds hand. Signed HAMILTON below the 12.
The solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition, removed in a couple photos to minimize glare (since safely reattached with epoxy as I do all crystals). The two-piece case is comprised of a 10 Karat Yellow Gold filled body (bezel) and stainless steel back lid. It is in excellent to MINT condition, truly nicer than my photos capture. The matching gold finish Hamilton-signed winding crown is like new as well, winding up and setting smoothly – wind her up all the way until tight once a day!
Turning the watch over I note that the stainless back lid (a great material for an alloy that’s going to rest against a wrist) is in excellent PLUS condition, absolutely no wear or engravings. It is stamped Stainless Steel Back, 10K Gold Filled Bezel, S&W. Inside I find a clean and original Seventeen Jewel movement with angled Geneva striping stamped Hamilton USA, 17 Jewels, Adjusted - [Grade] 730, USA. The inside case lid is signed HAMILTON W. CO., LANCASTER, PA - STAINLESS STEEL BACK, 10K GOLD FILLED BEZEL, S&W with case number S727,852. The initials S&W stand for Schwab & Wuischpard, an American watch case making company that still exists today doing custom work in Florida.
This original Hammy Drummond Retro Modern Tank has been completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted on a new and high quality 17mm black deBeer Paris handcrafted alligator (grain) calf leather strap with matching gold finished buckle. Like the Townsend also for sale this week, this is my first “Drummond” Hamilton model and I have no idea when I’ll come across another. Very clean design, good size and excellent original shape –

One of my favorite "not a big name" watch firms is the Enicar Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm that was founded in the city of Longeau by Ariste Racine in 1914. It is the RACINE name spelled backwards that determined the name of this brand. Enicar and Racine produced watches under a number of names, including Alprosa, Mars and Dreffa.
When I first began collecting vintage watches over 25 years ago I focused on the military styles of the 1940s, there is something about their clean dial designs and sturdy construction that was appealing. One of my favorite military watch models is what I’m about to offer for sale, a rare Porcelain Enamel Dial example in near mint condition, made by Enicar in the early 1950s. I cannot emphasize enough how rare it is to find a watch of any style or type with a porcelain enamel dial made after 1930. The use of porcelain faces all but disappeared by the late 1920s so this watch can be accurately described as one of the LAST of its venerable tribe
Triple-signed, its solid stainless steel case measures a relatively larger 42mm end to end and 34.5mm in width (37mm with original crown). This works out to be 1-5/8 inches long by 1-3/8 inches wide, without the crown. Back in the early 1950s this was a larger size men’s watch but today it is the perfect size for a person with an average size wrist.
It has been fully disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated by my watchmaker David and its Swiss 15 jewel Enicar-signed mechanism winds and sets smoothly while accurate time.
The flawless & perfect original white porcelain enamel dial is in excellent condition. It features a 60 second outer track border that is calibrated to 1/5 of a second for precision, Arabic style numbers, original blue steel hands with original fill and original RED “sweep” center seconds hand. Signed ENICAR SPORT below the 12 and “INCABLOC” above the 6. It is further signed SWISS MADE at the base of the dial. The Incabloc reference means this watch has a shockproof balance assembly, where the balance jewel is set within a “spring” system that withstands knocks and drops.
The domed, hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear shape. The case is all stainless steel and in excellent PLUS shape, the body crafted of one piece of solid steel. The original and correct unmarked stainless steel winding crown is also in excellent order, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the screw-down back lid is stainless steel, unmarked and in excellent shape with no

The inside of the engine-turned case lid is stamped ENICAR WATCH CO., SWISS, STAINLESS STEEL.
This fully serviced watch winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. I’ve fitted a new 18mm Havana brown deBeer handcrafted leather strap with contrast stitching and stainless steel buckle, ready to be worn and enjoyed. Honestly one of the finest Korean War, military dial watches that one can find…you’ll be very satisfied with this original Enicar!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers.
One of the best-known watch firms in the world today, the Movado Watch Co. of Switzerland took its name from the Esperanto word that translates as “Always in Motion.” Founded by Achille Ditesheim in 1881, he soon set up the first factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, and the Movado name first appeared in 1906.
One of the first watch companies to produce a wristwatch for men, its most famous early design was the Polyplan, followed by military timepieces and triple date watches.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from the Movado factory, a sweep seconds model that dates to the early to mid 1950s (ca 1952 – 1956). This example features a very nice stainless steel case made by Taubert of Le Locle, Switzerland, the successor to the Francois Borgel Watch Case Company.
Triple-signed, its case measures 42mm lug tip to lug tip and 34mm in width (35.8mm with crown). This works out to be just over 1-5/8 inches long by just under 1-3/8 inches wide, not including the winder. It is powered by its original 127 caliber, 17 jewel, manual wind Movado mechanism that has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The black, enamel finish dial is in excellent condition, the original dial that has been professionally restored with new enamel paint. It features a 60 second outer track, raised silver hour markers and numbers, original silver metal Lance-style hands and ‘sweep’ original seconds hand. Signed MOVADO below the 12 and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition, a new addition. The Movado-signed, FB stamped (Taubert) designed case is Solid Stainless Steel and in excellent shape, a two-piece example with angled, sharks tooth lugs. It is stamped 4747 between the top lugs, the last four digits of the case back number. The steel winding crown is unmarked and in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that screw-down stainless back lid is in great shape, stamped Stainless Steel and without any personal engravings or wear.
Taking a look inside I find a manual wind mechanism that

Please note the “FB” initials for Francois Borgel, the Swiss Patent + symbol and the Movado trademark of a hand holding a pocket watch. Please also note that the number stamped between the lugs of the case (4747) are also the last four digits of the case number, ensuring an original watch.
This black dial Movado has been completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 16mm black deBeer Paris hand crafted Ostrich (grain) calf leather strap with steel buckle so you are good to go. Winner of countless horology awards, their wristwatches are among the best in the world, on par with the best of the Swiss watch making profession including its chief rival Omega.
I am very happy to offer for sale the following vintage Longines timepiece, a ladies 14kt Solid White Gold evening cocktail watch that dates to ca 1953. This is the first time I have ever come across this model, complete with two-tone silver dial and a total of Twenty Two (22) Genuine Diamonds set into the bezel and swivel (hinged) lugs.
Triple-signed, it measures 40mm lug tip to lug tip and 15mm in width (16.5mm with crown). I have always fancied watches from the Mido Watch Co. of Biel, Switzerland, a higher quality firm founded by G. Schären in 1918. They were the true innovators in the field of bumper automatic movements and invented the unbreakable mainspring in 1937. By the late 1940s the company would rely solely on self-winding automatic mechanisms for ALL its watches.
Arguably the most under-rated vintage watch brand that I can think of, its watches always work great…solid, dependable and on par with comparable Omega and Longines models without anything unnecessary or unneeded in design.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from the Mido firm, a late 1950s Multifort - Powerwind model in great, original condition. This watch is 5X signed for Mido – on the dial, winding crown, outer case, mechanism and on the inside of the “Vacuum” seal stainless steel case.
As Mido states in an original advertisement from this era, the Powerwind “is the newest and most advanced self-winding mechanism in any watch! Powerwind winds with the slightest movement of your wrist to build up the reserve energy that keeps your watch running even while you sleep.”
Its stainless steel case measures 39mm lug tip to lug tip and 33mm in width (33.5mm with Mido-signed, recessed crown). In inches this works out to be just over 1-1/2” long by just over 1-1/4” wide, not counting the winding crown. My valued watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 17 jewel, rotor automatic wind mechanism to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, finely brushed enamel finished dial is in great condition – untouched since it left the factory with some normal specks of age visible but not distracting, NICER than my close-up micro photos show. It features a raised hour markers and numbers, an engine turned background below said hour markers and numbers, original silver steel Dauphine-style hands with luminous fill and a ‘sweep’ original center seconds hand.
Signed Mido MULTIFORT below the 12 and powerwind above the 6. It is further signed Switzerland below the 6.
The armored acrylic crystal is in perfect condition. The two-piece solid stainless steel case is in excellent condition, stamped with case number 9698 between the bottom lugs. The original winding crown is in excellent order, signed Mido in raised letters. Being a duo-wind watch, you can wind this watch manually, in addition to it winding automatically (kinetically) by the movement of your wrist.
Turning the watch over, I note that the that the back lid is a ten-sided stainless steel screw-down model, signed Mido , Multifort Super Automatic - Powerwind – Antimagnetic – Rustless Steel – Switzerland – Shock Protected – Water Proof. It is also stamped with the letter ‘B’ as shown. Peeking inside, I find a clean higher-grade rotor automatic movement that is signed SWISS MIDO LIMITED, 0917 P, 17 SEVENTEEN JEWELS - MOZ. The inside lid is nicely engine turned and signed VACUUM – MIDO LIMITED, SWITZERLAND – RUSTLESS STEEL - 2039698. Please note that this case number’s last FOUR digits are the same as those stamped between the bottom case lugs (9698).
Just back from my watchmaker David, this fully serviced watch winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 18mm black deBeer hand crafted Crocodile grain leather strap with matching steel buckle. An all original, excellent shape full-size Mido Powerwind automatic that is sure to

I have always collected and sold watches from Bulova, an American company with a great history. By 1922, the name “Bulova Watch Co.” was would be seen on watch dials across the country and the firm would be the first in the industry to standardize its parts…revolutionizing the servicing of watches.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s Bulova timepiece, a 23 jewel, automatic wind black dial model that dates to 1967. Before I say anything else I want to assure you that this all original watch is even NICER in person – my photos rarely do a black dial watch justice.
Triple-signed, it measures 38mm end to end by 32mm in width (34mm with original, unmarked crown). In inches this works out to be 1-1/2” in length by 1-1/4” in width, not counting the winding crown. It has been fully serviced by my watchmaker David (Bulova Watch school Trained) prior to auction and its original 17 jewel, manual wind mechanism winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The black enamel dial is in excellent condition, the original that has been restored. Features include a 60 second outer track border, raised silver Arabic numbers, silver metal Dauphine style hands with luminous fill and a center ‘sweep’ silver seconds hand. Signed BULOVA in raised letters below the 12 and SWISS at the base.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition and clear. The case is solid stainless steel and in excellent PLUS condition, a two-piece design with sharp edged lugs. The original steel winding crown is correctly unmarked (for this era) and in excellent shape, winding smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the screw down back lid is stamped Bulova - Waterproof - Stainless Steel Case – Antimagnetic - Shock Resistant – M7 with serial number below this. The M7 is the firm’s date code for 1967. Condition of the back lid is excellent PLUS. Inside is a fully signed, 17 jewel mechanism that is signed Bulova Watch Co. – [Caliber] 11 ALC- 17 Seventeen Jewels, Swiss, BXW – M7.
This fully serviced watch winds and sets smoothly and keeps accurate time.
