8.1: Geometric Vectors

Vector ­ quantity represented by a ray that has both magnitude and direction

Magnitude ­ length or distance/speed  Direction ­ angle between the positive x­

axis and the vector.

To write a vector

a = x (y°)   x = magnitude   y = direction

Standard Position of a vector has its initial point at the origin.

Zero Vector  ­ when both the initial and terminal point are at the origin.  Denoted by 0

Equal Vectors  ­ have the same direction & magnitude
