cosmetic line based in Houston, Texas. The handcrafted lip products were conceived and perfected
by founder Maria Martinez. She lovingly handcrafts a vivid array of lip colors made with high-
quality topical products consisting of only organic and natural ingredients. The formulas are unique,
uncomplicated and lusciously nourishing.
X. currently offers a variety of vibrant hues that can be applied as both a lip color and blush. The
gender neutral salve helps heal and restore a myriad of ailments.
As X. grows and introduces more products to the

What are X.’s colors made with?The colors are FDA approved “C&D Lakes” for
cosmetics and drugs.
How long do X. colors stay on/last?It varies per person, but without active eating/
drinking, it will last for hours. The tin itself lasts
up to a year or more.
What are X.’s ingredients?Organic sweet almond oil, organic coconut oil,
organic castor oil, organic raw unrefined Shea
butter, organic beeswax, lanolin, Vitamin E, and
honey local to Houston, TX. The amounts and
formulas vary for each product.
Does X. contain nut ingredients?Yes. Coconut oil, sweet almond oil and raw un-
refined Shea butter; all are certified organic.
Does X. have a scent?No. The only scent comes from natural ingredients.
How do you apply X.?You can use a lip brush, scoop some with back of
your nail and smear with finger, or just use your
fingertip.
Is X. like a stain?Somewhat. It has more moisturizing qualities
and looks more like a gloss/lipstick.
How do I use X. as a blush?Apply a very small amount to cheeks and
spread with your finger, sponge or tissue. Start
with a minimal amount and add more color
until desired look is reached. Easily adjusted or
removed with tissue.
What can I use the clear salve X.Ray for?Moisturize and protect lips, as a base for dark
or matte lip colors, highlight and moisturize eye
area and temples, help shape and hold brows,
moisturize cuticles, alleviate dry skin patches,
hold down flyaway hair and more. The vitamin
E, honey and organic beeswax all have natural
healing qualities.
Will X. melt?As long as it’s not in direct sunlight it will be
okay. If it’s very hot it will soften with tempera-
ture. If it’s in direct sunlight, or left in a hot car,
it will melt. It will harden again once cooled off.

X. was established by Maria Martinez in 2011 and
launched its first product line in November 2012,
after months of research and development.
Maria, a 33 year-old entrepreneur, received her
BA in Advertising & Public Relations from City
College New York. Prior to that, she majored
in Theater back in Texas, and took a Theatrical
Makeup class which initiated her first self-
employment as a makeup artist. After various
life changes and receiving her degree, she took
an internship at Converse PR headquarters,
located in New York City. She stayed on at
Converse beyond her internship, where she
gained valuable experience before moving back
to Texas.
After leaving New York and relocating to
Houston, Maria began a joint venture with a
business partner and opened a boutique called
Beatniks. Beatniks focused on vintage apparel,
accessories, hosted a monthly art opening
showcasing local artists and also specialized in
tango and swing dance shoes. The two vintage
enthusiasts were involved in various community
markets and local fashion shows.
Becoming more involved in the vintage
community, Maria and two other business
partners started yet another venture, called
Houston Vintage. The annual event showcases a
preview party and day market.
During all of this Maria experimented with
organic ingredients, products and colors for
X. — refining formulas and testing her product
on people. In November 2012 Maria began to
concentrate all her efforts on the brand.
X. has gained a strong following by participating
and selling at local events, trunk shows,
collaborating with other local businesses/artists
and being active with social networking.
The eco-beauty lip line plans to promote a
limited edition fall/holiday series of lip shines
that will include colors with shimmer.
While Maria works on adding new products to
her cosmetic line she continues to co-organize
Houston Vintage as well as work for local music
festival Free Press Summer Festival.
