WELCOMING REMARKS

The World Cadet, Junior and Sub21 Championships is the benchmark event for our youngest

karatekas, being the way to participate at the Senior Championships, and in our long-awaited Olympic

Games in Tokyo 2020.

With these words I want to recognize the excellent work developed by the World Karate

Federation and the work towards the worldwide karate of its President, Mr. Antonio Espinós. There are

many competitors, technician, amateurs and relatives who will attend this important event, and without

any doubt, Spain is ready to welcome it.

The experience and professionalism that our country has demonstrated in the celebration of

World Championships in these categories and specially in Senior, they are the best guarantee to ensure

the success of this great event.

Now, it is the city of Santa Cruz of Tenerife which receives the next World Cadet, Junior and

Sub21 Championships, that it will the second time for Spain. The excellent features of the island of

Tenerife, its people, gastronomy, climate, beaches etc… with the great work and effort of the Canarian

Karate Federation and, notably of its President, Mr. José Pérez, and the unconditional support of the

governmental institutions, which will make, without a doubt, one of the best event celebrated to date.

Finally, I would like to wish luck to all the competitors and technicians that will participate in

these World Championships, as well as to invite all the karatekas, friends and relatives, to come to this

magnificent championship, enjoy karate and our country, I welcome you all.

Without further ado, I hope to see you all in this beautiful city, enjoying the best national and

international karate, and life all the aspects of these Championships deserves. Best regards,

These Junior, Cadet and U21 World Championships in Tenerife will be the first world event of the WKF

after the decision of the International Olympic Committee of including Karate in the 2018 Youth Olympic

Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Many of the participants in Tenerife may also be present in Buenos

Aires, and this is one of the reasons we are expecting to break all former participation figures, with a

massive presence of all the five Continents in this beautiful Spanish Island.

Tenerife has already hosted many first level international Karate events, including for example two

European Senior Championships, and the local organization team, together with the Royal Spanish Karate

Federation, offer all the guarantees necessary for assuring a high quality World Championships. The 2017

event duration has been extended to five days, as the participation along the last editions has been

constantly increasing, proving the interest that Karate raises among youngsters.

I wish you all a pleasant stay in Tenerife all an enjoyable World Championships.

The booking will only be valuable at the reception of a deposit corresponding to 50% of the total amount

of the stay by a bank transfer. The rest of balance for your stay will have to be paid by a bank transfer 15

The lunch vouchers will be given by the host at 15 € per head per meal (water, appetizer, main course, dessert) if you reserved before 11st September 2017. PAYMENT CONDITIONS

50 % deposit payment for the length of stay, in order to guarantee the reservation before 31 July 2017.

Full payment before 10th October 2017.

In case the remaining amount is not received by the mentioned dates, the rooms will be released and the reservation will be cancelled.

Between 31st July to 15th September the rates will increase 20%. Reservation made after 15th September 2017 subject to room’s availability.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Until 15th September: no cancellation fee.

From 16th September to 30th September: 25% fee will be charged for cancellations.

From 1st October to 10th October: 50% fee will be charged for cancellations.

From 16th October: 100% fee of the total cost of the cancelled reservations and no show.

Insurance

It is compulsory that all participants and members of delegations have their own medical insurance. The Spanish Karate Federation and the World Karate Federation are taking no liability for either of these. The Heads of the delegations have to sign the below terms of responsibility form and return it by October 5th, 2017. The Delegations that have not submitted this document may not be registered at the World Karate Cadet, Junior & U‐21 Championship.

Spain, from 25th to 29th October 2017, with fully knowledge of the Statutes, the Rules and the Norms of

The WORLD KARATE FEDERATION, pledge myself to faithfully accomplish the regulations of this before

mentioned entity, and I take any and all administrative, civil and criminal responsibilities of whatever

happens to our athletes, coaches and other members of our delegation participating in this

Championships, before, during and after the competition, such as physical injuries, personal expenses, or

monetary debts and casual material damages to the hotels, the venue, means of transportation etc.

Furthermore, I exempt from any legal, civil or criminal responsibilities the organizers of the

Championships, the World Karate Federation and the Spanish Karate Federation its directors, as well as

any person, company, or entity related to the event (sponsors, public and private entities).

I authorize the organizers of the event to use images, photos and the names of our competitors and

other members of our delegation (since it is considered necessary) for the sport activities and

publications of karate, related to the event, without any monetary compensation.
